Are they savings though? Yes the fuel is cheaper but you are omitting the deposit you paid as well as the final balloon payment that will be due so while you are saving in fuel vs the petrol the EV will be more expensive overall.

Comparisons of a new ev vs an old ice are irrelevantv really because the purchase price negates any savings. You should be working out uour savings against a new ice car not your old car.

In your post though you are comparing your savings & mentioned your old touran in the comparison so the savings you posted are meaningless.

I'm not saying you won't be saving & if you are changing anyway than the electric does make sense, just that you need to compare like for like & compare your savings against the ice car you'd be buying. The savings will may be even higher because loans will cancel out.

I don't know if the Tuscan is the comparable model to the ID4 or not.

Sounds like you're gonna be doing 35,000-40,000km a year though. You'll be penalised heavily at the end of the 3 year pcp if that's the case.

OP got a variant which was around 35k. I think it was called City and not available at the moment.

I think the comparison makes sense as it speaks only about outgoings from his own pocket. There is no discussion here about residual values.To be able to pay the monthly rent and fuel cheaply than just the fuel it is something. I prefer a different model where I get to use the car as long as possible but that's just me.

I did a cost comparison about 5 years ago of the total cost of ownership between my brand new Ioniq EV and the last car I had before then (a worthless banger) and the Ioniq cost less. Very few people believed my figures, but then most people looked at me like I had 2 heads when I told them I bought an electric car 😂

The figures actually turned out to be much better than I had presented as the depreciation on the Ioniq was far less. I think I spent about €30 in the first year or two on fuel too as all public charging was free back then and I had free unlimited electricity at home (for the first year thanks to Just Energy - an American utility provider who has long since left the market here). My total maintenance over 3 years was €163 for 2 tyres and if I had known I would be selling the car soon afterwards, I wouldn't have bothered with them

All my other EVs since then have actually made me money, not cost me any. Total cost of ownership, so including insurance, tax, tolls, maintenance, depreciation, fuel, everything.

what touran did you have which had such poor fuel economy? You were hardly doing 2600km in town
