Why no bus route for Ballymoneen Road/Hill? In Knocknacarra.

Why is there no bus route for the Ballymoneen hill, a bus driver on the 412 said to me today that apparently one is in the works, but my friend who moved there has said this has been proposed for the last few years and nothing so far.

It's been mulled about for years. It's only in recent years that housing development in Upper Ballymoneen/Ballyburke has escalated. It is up to the NTA to decide on new routes.

There was one, possibly 10 years ago. Very few passengers ever got on/off whenever I used it combined with the difficult turn around probably made it not worth it.

More houses there now so would be good to see an option back.

Sorry op, Ballyburke still doesn't look to be in line for a service, likely due to the small number of housing estates on that road

The Mervue stop on the 401 line was cut when the 403 & 401 was merged, before being added again. Any idea why that stop is being cut again in that proposed route?

I have a theory that someone influential in BE either grew up in Mervue, or has family there. And hates Knocknacarra. While the NTA are applying a density based approach.

Sounds mad, I know. But nevertheless. Kinda like the way local BE aren't applying higher fares on trips over 7.5km.

Also, bollix to the comment about the small number of estates on that road. Building is going on apace. Lots of social housing included.

The 405 and 401 stops on the Ballybane Rd, from Walter Macken Rd to the Monivea Rd junction look like they'll be a thing of the past too, another weird decision. These are busy stops and one only recently had a new shelter put in.

What you're seeing there is the NRA/planners view.

Not how BE put it into practise.

The planners cut the stop. The drivers keep stopping at it. Rinse and repeat.

Still no bus operator in Feb 2023. Yet ABP continue to refuse more developments due to no buses. How difficult is this problem to fix?!

Also anyone notice the 'hidden' bus shelter uphill at Gleann na Mona. If you stand there, the approaching bus cannot see you due to the high wall. Bonkers
