Wow any link to them or how much they cost you each landed including all taxes and duties? I guess about €200-€250 per kWh? I presume these are new and LiFePo4? What cells are in them? I guess 100Ah cells with 16 in series?

New lifepo4 alright. Away for a few days so will post specs when back next week.

Bit of help here please folks, new (16 X 3.2v LifeP04) batteries installed today but inverter seems to be drawing current from them instead of charging them.

Could anyone share their settings please for Solis inverter

Any more details on it. Assume it is seplos BMS? Are you connected via can connection?

Any photos of connections to and from batteries to inverter?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,446 ✭✭✭Big Lar

Daly BMS and inverter set to lead acid.

I actually bypassed the BMS to see if that was the issue, gonna wait till tomorrow to see if it comes around in the morning when the inverter starts up.

No need to wait until tomorrow, you can see now if you can charge the battery from the grid? I'm not familiar with your hybrid inverter, but is the lead acid setting the right one?

OK, Think that I figured it out.

So just in case anyone else is in bother.

There is a Self-Use setting on the inverter and then a "Time Charge" setting which allows user to set charging and discharging times - This is to allow for maximum savings so that one would only configure the battery to be used at peak times like in the evening when electricity is muche more expensive for those on smart meters.

Anyhow's I just disabled that feature on the inverter so we will see how that goes.

hmm. Dont think thats yer issue. I would enble Self Use if i was you - but you dont need to enable Run on the next page - for charge and discharge times.

There is a long thread on here with lots of screenshots if you need them - look for charging night rate thread i think.

    Like this?

Let me know if you need any specific help, I didnt find a single guide for the whole thing.

Mine isnt perfect somhow Ive managed to get my settings wrong and when the battery gets full it triggers the inverter high battery voltage alarm. Otherwise i havent used any electric since I completed it, so I suppose its a success!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,307 ✭✭✭irishchris

Impressive box. Assume it's two rows of 8 in this? Any chance of some pics of inside connections etc

Mine are en route and should be here in next two weeks so trying to get everything together here for it. Amy tips or problems you encountered?

My main worry is this high voltage alarm issue that most with Solis seem to have with the seplos. Does that involve having to reset it several times a day when hits full and high voltage?

Soz I think I explained it incorrectly, self use is enabled but the next page is set to STOP

Wow, beautiful setup fair play to you. I'm also crying at the amount of those old racks I've seen skipped over the years they're perfect for this!

    Loving how neat that is.

Maximum OCD points right there 😀

But I think you could have done without the compression, most folk "online" seem to think it is not necessary as long as the terminal bars have don't have the exact hole for M6 or whatever the bolt.

Adding a Puredrive battery is it a simple case of connecting the battery cables to the existing battery and connect a comms cable between them? Or is there a specific sequence to be done, also is the comms cable a standard RJ45 cat 5/6 or a specific comms cable?

nice job , can you explain the Capacitors , and the reasoning behind linking 2 batteries , if i understand it making 16x 6.4 . im still getting my head around it all , 👍️

Not sure of the sequence but here's my two wired up and the page from the manual hope that helps

Thanks, the RJ45 is ok to use so. I'm just unsure of the comms cable chain and want to be 100% on the battery connection. It looks like existing cables stay as they are and just connect the new battery cables to the 2 free connections.

I just done as per the manual you posted there, and fingers crossed it seems to be working ok. Thanks for that.

No. That will work, but it is suboptimal. Ideally the cables to/from inverter should go one to each battery and then link to each battery. It evens the load on each battery.

Thanks, is there a preference as to which cable + or - because the cables don't have much leeway left.

Doesn't matter. It will work as you have it currently but the original battery will be doing most of the work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,790 ✭✭✭garo

That depends. My inverter is a Growatt and yes I have to plug the laptop in and reset when it hits the high voltage alarm. It's a pain because I have to manage consumption around battery not hitting 100%. Haven't heard of anyone with Solis having this issue though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,307 ✭✭✭irishchris

Maybe I mixed up who had the issues then as had thought I had read of someone with Solis but maybe not. Either way that is bad if you have to do that with yours all the time Garo as with summer approaching that will be an uphill task trying to stop battery hitting 100%

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 359 ✭✭Geeyfds53573

Different issue with the Solis - Seplos techs logged into my laptop a few times and kept lowering the total voltage limit so it now takes longer to get to 100% but eventually it does get there and inverter errors (Over voltage battery hardware/Grid over frequency) the inverter bombs out a few times and realistically you have to discharge otherwise I’d say it keeps doing that loop. @reklamos are you still having issues? Automation would seem to be a solution (stop the charge) but I haven’t implemented it yet as have zappi and eddi to fill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,307 ✭✭✭irishchris

Jeez doesn't sound great. When you say bombing out is inverter restarting?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 359 ✭✭Geeyfds53573

Yep restarts itself but it’s not bad just depends if you will hit 100% for a prolonged time - besides this it is flawless - I think it’s not just me and also Seplos techs could be in lockdown as heard nothing the last few weeks - on the automation thread reducing or stopping the charge rate on a Solis is being discussed and I’m confident if Seplos don’t resolve there will be an easy automated solution

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,307 ✭✭✭irishchris

Problem is with my size setup for large parts of the summer I will be be hitting 100% I reckon. Even with today been a really poor day I hit 33kw.

Hoping seplos sort this as the thoughts of inverter continually restarting or having to reset it surely can't be ok for most. Shane the zeva BMS that @DrPhilG got isn't still available as seems to be issue free

I do have these but not as often as I used. Since I have 20kWh it does require a good day to fill the battery, also I start using if I see that the day is going to be good. I have made changes similar to what Seplos tech did. I have widened the gap between monover voltage high and overvoltage. This means that seplos will drop to 10Amps earlier and start diverting excess to water. This prolongs the time needed for it to reach the 100% but as you said it wil get there.
