Kids breathing issues are increasing as pollution levels are decreasing.

My brother is big into DIY insulation, his house is always warm and not a draft to be felt from any window or door. Central heating and a range which is only on in very cold weather and then uses smokeless fuel. A very cosy energy efficient home. All his kids have asthma.

You keep reposting the same content, while still refusing to show how and where I backpedalled or refused to truthfully answer anything. Are you pathologically incapable of making a rational argument?

This is a common issue on this thread. Reposting the same information, asking the same question over & over again. Ignoring the answers, accusing people of all sorts.

I would suggest you ignore. It was the same earlier in thread, when I went back and pointed out all the times myself and others had answered the question it still didn't stop. I even gave the post numbers.

It seems to be a tactic deployed by a number of posters here and also on the FF/FG/Greens thread.

You're incapable of differentiating between me 'saying the government report is wrong' and me 'showing the original research that the government report references'. Are you really so unintelligent that you can't understand the difference between the messenger and the message?

I'm not saying the government report is wrong, the paper that it references states that the government report is wrong and I've both a) linked to the original paper & b) included a screenshot of the relevant section, which is clearly different from what the other user, Alone or the government report claims. You disagree with this and state that the report says differently, but refuse to show where - even though I've quite literally included a screenshot of the relevant section.

Also, I have no problems understanding the words you're using - which is why I'm able to see that you rarely understand any of them e.g. in this case, soliloquy ( https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/soliloquy ) - you quite clearly don't understand what it means to use it in this context.

You're a parody of someone who is writing a college essay and spends more time on thesaurus.com looking for what they think are 'fancy' and 'impressive' words, rather than making a well-written, well-thought out, structured and cogent argument.

Notice how when replying to users in this thread, I structure my posts, make a coherent argument, include references, quotes and other evidence, and maintain the same point and position across posts?

You do none of that, you just huff, puff, blather, state factually untrue things, and all while feverishly consulting a thesaurus.

i am not sure what the point of the comment is? Are you saying even with smokeless coal the kids have asthma?

It doesn’t matter if he just burns smokeless, it’s all the other shite been pumped into the air that’s causing the issues

It doesn’t matter if he just burns smokeless, it’s all the other shite been pumped into the air that’s causing the issues

Your credibility is absolutely shredded at this stage. So you admit smokeless fuel doesn't matter now either?

Also their house is on the west coast 20 metres from the sea. Outside air quality isn't a problem. I suspect the problem is inside.

How is my credibility absolutely shredded?

I just said it all the shite pumped into teh air. Do you think because someone lives beside the sea the air isn’t full of shite ?

Anyway it seems you are here for an argument. Find someone else…

P.S as I said I had no idea what point you tried to make, seems like it was none

Well all I can say, is that you clearly didn't bother to read what was written. So let me quote what was said from my previous comment

So again tell me where did the poster include that detail in his comment - if as you bizarrely claim my comment is "factually incorrect"? (This was the bit you've backpeddled and refused to truthfully answer btw)

Pathologically???? That's a very big word. I thought you didn't like big words like that no?

Well let me ask are you "pathologically" incapable of admitting you've made a huge mistake and actually apologising?

As the link I posted earlier shows there is very little wrong with the air quality in Ireland. Like yourself I believe a lot of kids breathing issues is due to them not getting enough fresh air nowadays.

Funny thing is no one had asthma when I was young ,when we all lived in draughty single glazed houses with open fires and every adult smoking like a train, Going to school in Swilly buses with the exhaust fumes coming in, sitting in cars with leaky exhausts and damp carpets, I think asthma increases are more to do with how diet and medication have altered in the last 30years,

I must admit when you used volume instead of weight in an earlier post earlier I thought it was both bad science and immature way to try and add strength your argument, not untruthful but a sensationalist's tactic.

(A bag of coal produces 600% more heat that a bag of peat).

I very much doubt that nobody had asthma, it's like nobody had autism when I was growing up, you hear all the time.

In 1990 it was 228 cars per 1000 people in Ireland, 2020 it was 442. Nearly double

In 1970 the World had 200m cars. In 1990 it was 500 million. 1.14 billion today.

I am sure if you search around you will find similar figures in terms of fumes getting pumped into the air.

If it was a DIY job then your brother might want to check the certification of the product he used, if all the kids have it could be something in the house:

Talking of cronies - I see various Green politicians such as Hazel Chu have been been feverishly tweeting about "turf". Linking it with "smokey coal" banned in cities and large towns and referrencing the well dodgy "1300 people die" factoid . And not a word about the Environment!

The general idea seems to be to spread the general idea that 'turf kills people' or wtte As per the byline in the green parties publication of choice

    Untitled Image

So there we have it folks, your average sod of turf will gang up with its mates and not only kill you, but also your family and your neighbours!

Turf is obviously more dangerous than nuclear waste. You have been warned!

Funny thing is that in Ireland we use approx 600kt of imported Coal as a domestic fuel per annum.

For Turf, domestic usage is only even half of that at approx 250kt per annum.

And yet here we have the greens like hazel, screaming about banning turf and pursuing a policy that mainly impacts areas far from Dublin, areas that are often economically disadvantaged or reliant on fuel for heating.

I reckon they know if they tried that shite with coal especially in areas like Dublin they'd be blasted out of it. People using Turf down the country is obviously the green parties low hanging fruit and they're making going to make a meal out of it.

Why not copy in both her tweets? Maybe because she makes a valid point when both are added in

    #sunjournalism

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,049 ✭✭✭Mecanudo

Whats with the apparent need to constantly throw digs at all those who you disagree with? Not the first post where you've done that.

To be fair the irony of your comment in relation to your previous comments on this thread is uncanny.

And I've really no idea about others posting here, but I've never posted on the FF/FG/Greens thread. Unless you're suggesting that posters there have also had occasion to call out your comments? I'd say thats a lot more than a bit if a coincidence if that's true

    Another howler indeed. 👍

Worst health crisis of our time? We'd the place locked tight when there was 20 cases and "Ah sure it's grand" when there was 20k.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,049 ✭✭✭Mecanudo

Why? Because its simply more of the same, that turf kills or wtte, not a word about the Environment and as you detailed #sunjournalism

If you wish to promote Hazels tweets off you go. But don't expect others to agree with that you think she's making any valid point at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭brokenangel

So you disagree that covid was the worst health crisis of our life?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭brokenangel

You posted her tweet, at least have the courtesy of posting both of them….

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,049 ✭✭✭Mecanudo

Lol. So you've moved the goalpost of because you think there might have been a "valid point" to a new goalpost of "courtesy"

Do you reckon that people on twitter are somehow going to be upset when someone links to one but not all of their tweets? 😄

And the second tweet was exactly the same - pushing the same byline and nowt a mention of the environment. Maybe you'd prefer I posted all her tweets lol. As I said off you go.

31k deaths in 2018, 31k deaths in 2020, 2021 won't be up until May but likely average out the same,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,191 ✭✭✭RandomViewer

Air to water heating uses approximately 4000KW a year, that'll be €2500 a year on top of existing electricity bill.

Electricity powered heating is not economically viable for most and the grid couldn't cope if homes currently heated by gas,oil or solid fuel were converted to electric. Any change must be cost neutral and the exchequer cannot profit from home heating, either the government supply chopped logs for the same price as turf or subsidies Smokeless fuel down to the same price as turf. The alternative I'd they increase benefits and wages by €3k per person which isn't viable,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭brokenangel

You posted one tweet because you tried to make up some bulls**t about what she posted, with both your “point” was wrong

Just another example of the standard of “information” you share

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭brokenangel

Where you find that A2W uses 4000kWh per year? Not saying you are wrong just interested

In terms of electricity no chance is it’s costing 2500, my brother total bill is less than that last year and he has A2W, even with the increase it wouldn’t add that much to bill

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,242 ✭✭✭brokenangel

Really? And the reduction in death due to lock down etc should be ignored?

Trying to belittle covid after what we seen in Italy etc is shocking to say the least

It's of little surprise to see climate deniers are also covid deniers

Coal is sold by weight. Oil is sold by volume, as is turf in my experience. Any time I've bought turf it's by bag (repurposed 40kg coal bags) or by trailer/truck load. It has never been by weight.

What's sensationalist, immature and bad science is not understanding the different fuels are measured in different ways.

"How dare you compare fuels that are delivered in the same container but have different weights, by volume!!!!!! I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT VOLUME IS BUT YOU'RE BEING IMMATURE"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,191 ✭✭✭RandomViewer

How many did you know who've died of Covid?

I know many people who had it and its a rotten dose but I only know of 2 people known to me who were in their 80s and 90s who actually died from it. No denial, all vaccinations up to date.

Based on the below it’s a pure finger in air

All I can tell you is that nobody is paying 2500 per year on A2W and if they are they should never have installed it in first place

“ This figure will depend on the size of your home, how well insulated it is and how much hot water you use. It will also depend on the efficiency of your heat pump. A heat pump with a CoP of four would use less electricity to produce the same amount of heat.”
