Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Will getting solar PV now affect SEAI grants in the future

I'm all set to have a retrofit done on my house with cavity and attic insulation, solar PV and a heatpump using one of the SEAI one stop shops.

Unfortunately the wheels seem to have come off the one stop shops scheme so I'd say it'll be many months before any work is done on my house. While I was getting the solar done as part of the retrofit, I had separately gotten quotes from the solar before I had done anything with the retrofit.

One of the solar companies will still honour the price I got about 6 weeks ago so I'm considering going ahead with that alone as prices are only going to go up with all aspects of retrofitting now that the grants have increased. The quote was cheaper than what I was quoted for solar as part of the retrofit.

Will having solar already installed affect the SEAI grant application when retrofitting for the heatpump and insulation with the one stop shops later in the year?

    Have you asked the SEAI?

Yes. They initially said it was no problem.

I dug around a bit on their website and found a clause that said it might. I got back onto the them and they were vague but said it might.

I'm going to leave it for the moment. The SEAI (like all government bodies) doesn't seem to know their arse from their elbow and I won't chance any issues down the line.

Some of the OSS are now online so things might finally be moving.
