Can anyone guide supporters around parking in cork city .

limerick supporter here coming in the mallow road through Blackpool to Patrick street . What next in terms of parking or driving further out . In the north stand my ticket .

be mindful too Limerick could be walking into a big trap on Sunday so limerick supporters might need to make a hasty exit out of the rebel city !!

Don't know about the trap bit but for parking you could go all the way down the Centre Park Rd if you're early enough to park at the Live at the Marquee site or simply park in one of the multi-stories, Carroll's Quay or Paul St and get a bus. If it was me coming from Limerick I'd hop on the train at Mallow and get a bus from the train station.

Trains booked out from charleville and mallow .

thinking of parking on street near opera house and walking out circa 30 minutes . Looking online car parks seem to want twenty Euro plus for 5/6 hours this Sunday and many are closed

I'd park on street parking on the north side and walk over ..30 mins leisurely stroll

Q Park city hall usually do match parking. About 6 Euro for the day

Also, maybe consider approaching from the other side, ie through the tunnel, and get off at the Mahon Juntion (10) and park somewhere close to the old Railway line and there is a walkway all the way to PUC (or could take the 202 bus to Ballintemple). Alternatively, you could park somewhere on the 202 route on the northside and avoid parking in the city or driving across the city altogether.

Just to note some of that walk way is closed off at the moment.

The walkway is closed from Skehard road through to Blackrock so I really wouldn't go with that option.

If the Rockies are doing parking then that's a good option. Come down the motorway from Michelstown, under the tunnel, up past Mahon Point, Leftat the junction with the skehard road, Rightat the junction with Church Road and park at the Rockies.

The map below shows how to walk to the stadium. Walk down Church road to the Blackrock Road, hang a left and about 50m down the blackroad road you can get down onto the walkway.

I hadn’t realised that there was a portion of the walkway closed at the moment. If there is parking in the GAA club that’s a good route.

The Car Park on the Marquee site next to the stadium is only open to “Official GAA car pass holders “

To be honest would you really want to drive right up to PUC considering the traffic and crowds that will be round there after the game tomorrow.

Going to park on street not far from Patrick street and walk out at my leisure and if i had to use a car park Carrolls quay car park does a match day 7 euro fee closeby to patrick street.

I'm glad someone asked the very relevant question.

There are at least 3 large Stadia (Stadiums) on the Blackrock Peninsula and yet there are no large car parks to accommodate any supporters.

There was an opportunity recently to purchase land next to Cork Constitution FC AND Pairc Uí Rinn GAA to put in a multi story car park.

This opportunity was missed and that land now is a large housing estate.

Now I've no problem with supporters going to matches - it's great !

BUT - there is no parking - any/all times there are major matches the cars are parked EVERYWHERE - It's like there's a sudden dropping of laws.

Parking across access to houses, parking on double yellow lines, parking in bus lanes, parking in bike lanes, parking on grass, parking on corners, parking on footpaths - this is all done with the knowlege of local GAA - where is the logic in this ?

Surely a car park could be built in lets say - the old Ford Storage area in the Marina ?

Like I'm sure that the GAA is not short of a few bob !

The answer to this is never more cars, and more parking spots = more cars. It has to be about providing better transport links and making it necessary for people to use them. Until the tram is in place in the area and the local roads are upgraded in the area it’s not going to be easy. But a car a normal multi-storey car park in the area will actually do very little to alleviate this problem and invite more traffic onto roads that can’t scope with it.

There’s also a much better argument for more housing over a game or concert a few times a year.

wont suit every game but something like buses from the train station to Pairc Ui Chaoimh should be a no brainer

For what its worth the day of the Limerick v Cork match i parked along the quay north side of the river and i got a 202 bus from the south quay beside merchants quay right out to Ballintemple right behind the main new stand, very handy.

After the game i walked with the crowd back along the river into the city centre ( 20/25 minute pleasant walk).
