The manual I am using is for both versions so just wondering what version most Irish students take?

I didn't sit it but I know that if you want to be able to get an Auditing Cert and sign off audits in practice in Ireland you need to do the Irish variant. It includes some additional Irish relevant stuff. Same for UK and Singapore variants I believe.
