Working from home and expenses/mileage

Hi all,

I am starting a new paye job with a tech company in Dublin next month. I am working from home most of the time and coming into the office every few weeks. Thing is my place of employment in my contract is down as my house. I know you normally cannot claim mileage in regards to travel to work, according to the revenue, but could I in this case seeing as the office is not my place of employment. I am over in Sligo so its quite the trip, anything I can claim would be appreciated.

That’s certainly stating that the majority of folk who now wfh are not covered for the requisite jaunts into their employer’s hq.

Hmm, well the "travel to and from work" bit I presume is ok as my "work" is my house in my contract. So the travel is to a company location unrelated to my day to day. Facilities are provided, health and safety undertaken etc.

The first picture is the tricky one. The fact that my home is my normal place of work in the contract is something I can lean on perhaps. Or my duties are very incidental!

Ah, probably a no go. Anyway, just because the revenue allows an expense to be given doesn't mean the company will 😂
