I presume you have already used the card with PIN to make a purchase? I think this is required to fully activate.

    Hiya, yes I have, I think 🤔

Just checked it on a card machine I have for my own little business. A €2 payment is no problem. But I tried to buy stuff online and the temporary hold thing happens and I have to use the other card.

Seems slower to tap also. Have to try a few times before I have success.

Could it be something to with EU regs on authentication?

Yeah, got 2 grand to tide me over on a holiday, paid it back less than a week later. took about 2 hours from application to money in account, also you can see the interest accruing in the app, so you'll know exactly how much you're settlement balance is. (Cost me a grand total of 1 euro)

I ordered the replacement card or March 28 and it arrived earlier this week, the estimate was April 11. Tried to activate at the post office for a postal order, but she said it wouldn't work for that transaction. It was fine for buying a stamp.

I've read back over the thread from January on. I'm heading to the US in late April and want to add US dollars for getting petrol, food, etc. Can you have a two currencies on it at once i.e. a few euro for Dublin airport and then dollars for when I land?

Is, there a charge for withdrawing money on your physical card?

There's a set limit of €200 or 5 withdrawals a month in cash whichever comes first before fees kick in. That said in some countries and possibly in some private ATM's in Ireland there will be a fixed charge which you must pay in addition, this will be flagged at withdrawal.

I have just opened a Revolut account and honestly it is wrecking my head.

I have it linked to one bank account. So far it has allowed me to do a couple of small top ups.It has refused to allow me to transfer more than about 15eur from my bank account to my Revolut account though -it goes through the motions and says everything is fine andthe transfer is underway, and then several hours later I get a message to say the transfer has been "reverted".It's really annoying tbh because the only reason I set it up is to share bills for meals and that, it's no good if it doesn't work.

I've an Irish IBAN, there is no apparent reason for it not to work.Any thoughts?

Have you finished all the KYC checks? Your account just mightnt be Verified yet so it's limiting your use.

Try topping up with your debit card maybe?

Thanks @feargantae.That doesn't seem to be the problem - or rather I can't see anything to say that it is -but I will check it again to see.

Any idea when Revolut are going to start paying interest on Savings?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,472 ✭✭✭TaurenDruid

Never, at a guess? Hard enough for them to make a profit without adding that additional cost, especially when other banks' interest rates are tiny or non-existent for deposits and some were/are talking about charging to have money on deposit. Current inflation rates might change that now, of course.

They already pay interest in the UK & other countries... Looking for info on when we'll get the same treatment in Ireland.

Irish banks are charging for cash withdrawals on a Revolut card from their ATMs.Or is it a government fee that I was done for? Withdrawal in Feb this year. There was no e200 allowance for "free" withdrawals for me.Other info--all EU banks appear to be charging for all withdrawals on any Irish card-debit or credit, revolut or any other since 2021.Your Irish bank will tell you that is the foreign banks policy now and nothing to with them.I suppose all freebies have to end sometime.

Was is 12c? That's stamp duty. Every bank charges you this, just normally all at once in the beginning of the year. Revolut charges each time, which I find much handier.

Its new for my revolut card.I keep atm transactions to a minimum on my other cards for that reason.

This isn’t true fwiw. Your post is a bit all over the place

I’ve withdrawn in an european country (EU) with my PTSB debit and my Revolut card without any charge this week

Now obviously some ATMs in europe charge a fee but this isn’t new and isn’t related to the cards being Irish. I always try to only use bank linked ATMs and not the ‘euronet’ (etc) machines

genuine question…. Has anyone ever successfully received the introduction (refer a friend) offer from revolut ?

I was personally referred by a friend. He was promised a €60 referral . I spent hundreds of €€€ on the card as per arrangement. Got an excuse and F.Off email from the company.

I referred 4 friends since as an experiment under the same promise of a referral fee and guess what … same wishy washy excuse and nada in regards to a fee paid out.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 971 ✭✭✭crinkley

Yeah I’ve got it 4 times and the last time I was with the person when they made their final necessary transaction and it was almost instant that the 60 euro was in my account

Got a new card recently, but have had a few issues where the card is not recognised in card machines? Its happened a few times now, wondering is the card a little thinner without the raised numbering and not being recognised?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,790 ✭✭✭beachhead

I use only irish cards when in the eu.I did not imply(nor wish to) that the charges apply to irish cards only.I used term "irish" here because I assumed everyone posting here would be using irish cards in the eu.I do not ever use private atms.charges at eu atms are new for me.my bank also informed me that they are a new introduction.By strange coincidence I used ptsb and revolut among others such as b of i and u b.all were subject to a withdrawal fee-notified onscreen.you must be a special customer of ptsb to avoid fees.

Charges at regular ATMs are becoming more and more common in many countries. For instance, you'll struggle to find an ATM in Spain these days that doesn't charge cards from other banks a few euro a pop.
