Above was gradually taking longer and to pump out (6 years old) so I removed the drain hose from the pump and found it "full" of wash powder residue etc, cleaned it out but the rubber non return valve came out with all the crap, I reassembled it without the NRV and all is well, this goes to a stand pipe. I intend to replace the NRV but a bit puzzled as to what actually keeps it in place.

It looks like the side with the raised inner diameter sits in the pump discharge fitting with the NRV tang pointing towards the drain hose, what keeps the NRV located as others I have seen fit over a little plastic tab that keeps them in place?.

Don’t worry about it when it is plumbed to a standpipe, it stops residue if plumbed to a spigot on a sink
