Virgin Media 240mb wireless issues

I have the white Modem connected to an Archer c7 for the last few years now but since the start of the year maybe longer the wifi is giving me constant issues.

I've reset it changed channels the usual stuff. Some days the 5ghz goes missing altogether and I can't even connect to it.

I dunno weather I need to update the router modem the package or change something in the settings? I haven't had a chance to ring Virgin in a while but last time they just told me to change the channel anyway.

Everything was fine but now there's issues most days im paying 67 euro a month and wondering why! Ha.

I'd call them and request a new modem for a start. I have had to change the box a few times in 5 years. When you connect into the modem via wire I presume everything is ok?

Yeah the wired connection is grand get full speed when connected to my PC or ps5 or whatever. Wifi is the issue I have random things connected to it dropping around the house.

Just invest in your own router. You can configure how you like, get a better results and your local network doesn't change if you ever want to change provider.

I've had the Virgin modem connected to a Tp link Archer C7 for year's and it improved things up until recently. It's went downhill since.

Apologies, selective eye sight strikes again. Yeah so assuming the virgin hub is in modem mode, the issue can only be with the Archer (also possible interference. Anything new in the house?). I don't have much good to say about TP-Link stuff, longevity not the best from what I've seen from an admittedly small sample size

It'll be worth it if it is indeed faulty, you might need to troubleshoot a smidge more to verify though. As I mention, has anything new electrical items been added around the area where the Archer lives? No new wireless soundbars/heating system controls/etc been added to the room? Has the Archer itself been moved? When you say the 5ghz goes missing, is that for all devices? Maybe even switch off the Archer for a test, run directly off the VM hub to see if it behaves better.

Sorry, I'm not aware of the specs of the TP-Link. My default would be to look for an Asus but I would assume there'll be a jump in price.

There hasn't been anything new added in a while so I don't think that's the issue. I know there are a lot of things connected via wifi though. Ring door bell couple of blink cameras two phones two tablets and sometimes a ps5. I've noticed it every day or two on my phone (s21 ultra) that the 5ghz will go missing when connecting again it never used to do this. The router is in the same place it's always been on the window sill behind the tv in the sitting room. Again it was fine before.

Which device is doing the routing and providing wireless.....?
