So, was he flown to Croagh Patrick and proceeded to climb it in its entirety?

Or was he flown part of the way up the mountain?

It's not entirely clear to me. Though he does look suspiciously fresh for a frail, unathletic man in the video made near the summit.

The pilot tweets that he flew Tubridy TO Croagh Patrick, not UP Croagh Patrick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 480 ✭✭Kildare1976

Shocking, whoever it was that paid for it, the money it cost to fuel this would have been much better placed being donated to all the great charities.

Why was it so important to have the finger pointing psychophant there... We're there no mountains closer to Dublin that he could climb, like the advised the rest of the country and beyond to do.

    It's quite disgusting...

Give it another few days and he'll be back telling us to plug our microwaves out at night to save money...

He got a week out of the climate summit earlier in the year... And now jumping on choppers because he wants the limelight. An utter phoney who jumps on every passing whim... Zero conviction.

Whoy didn't Tubridy get the train to Westport if he was too tired to drive. Arriving in a helicopter ffs.

'Riffing Ryan hitching a ride to Croke Patrick'

Richie are ya out there...would ya rite an ol' song for the day that's in it.

Well said and the arrogance of it with people struggling. You'd have to wonder who's advising this clown and Barry McGuigan for that matter. 10's of thousands of ordinary hard pressed people donated to this worthy cause and rightly so and these two pricks grab a chopper , "Paid for by a Supporter", it's beggars belief and has a distasteful & vulgar "Entitlement " look about it .

There's only one thing missing from the photo , one of Ryan's other finger's, pointing upwards to the camera as in F**K you all .

    Youre spot on.

We all are big and old enough to know that there are class and wealth divides in the world, always was and will be but this carry on is truly reminiscent of the Charlie Haughey era, tighten your belts diatribe...

It's disgusting to carry on like this, especially when promoting a charity and even more so given the nature of the disease being so dibilitating ... I contributed because its such a great cause but I have to be honest, I didnt give my modest donation without hesitation, he nearly put me off doing so but why should the charity suffer. God he is so out of touch its frightening... As are RTE who facilitate this. I can't stomach his false concern for people.

Really kind people do it for the good of others... People in here will argue that he uses his platform to raise the awareness, which to be fair is important, but WHY after the awareness is raised does he have to keep himself front and centre, its so needy and attention seeking... He really needs to practice some humility.

Check out his Instagram... Just grids of pictures of himself... Very odd man.

I'd doubt Tubs has ever lowered himself by using public transport 😁

Thankfully I don't use Instagram, just the sight of his smugness would make my blood boil 😏 but yes , this arrogance whilst supposed to be supporting a charitable event, its just shocking but based on past history, perhaps not at all surprising.

The notion of him flying in by helicopter started as a joke on the thread, some excellent gif from @[Deleted User] earlier in the thread

Bloody front seat and I was half joking, but based on past form.

It’s in such very poor taste. I hope someone sent a helicopter for Charlie and that he didn’t have to travel in darkness in the car.

Wise move... It would only upset you 😂

Harious that it started as a joke... And is in fact true!

No question that he climbed the mountain, he bragged non stop about it on his Instagram stories... But if he couldn't make it on time due to shoe commitments he should have climbed locally and for those people that do like him he could have provided a great buzz in another location without adding to his ever growing carbon footprint.... Which he clearly doesn't care about. We are just 3 months into the new year and already he has flown to New York, Paris and Mayo and enjoys his weekends away in the west driving his gas guzzling vintage jaguar. I'd be content to say leave him at it if he wasn't in such a public role but it's gone beyond a joke now his preaching to us about, environmental issues, sustainability and money saving...

Please give us a credible media role model that practises even a little of what they preach. I dont think these are unreasonable things to say but he would probably say that these thoughts are not kind or delicious or what ever other few limited adjectives he has in his nursery book vocabulary.

A 30 minute flying lesson in an “inexpensive” 2 seat Robinson 22 helicopter costs about €250-€300 minimum. The chopper shown in that picture is a substantial beast, and for an hour’s (+) flight there and again back (pilot has to ferry it back to Weston) would cost thousands, even with pilot possibly donating his expertise for the charity, or company waving most profit over running costs. Pocket money for Tubridy of course, but you can bet he didn’t pay for the expenses out of his pocket.

Well said 👏, it's just extraordinary, even by Turbidy's standards

What really rattles my cage while reading this thread are the number of posters with absolutely nothing constructive to say.

RT got the ball rolling for this charity event.

He kept the ball rolling by promoting it at every opportunity on his shows.

Without him the event would not have happened.

He deserves a hell of a lot of praise

i cannot understand why you do not like him.

He’s a good guy and I will leave it at that

Yes, quite the flying machine. Sickening... But no disrespect to the guys providing the service, in fairness they were probably trying to be decent but Tubridy was not needed there, have we learned nothing during the lockdowns. The fuel costs should have gone to charity.

The oul helicopters bring out the worst in some people.

I remember being at a funeral some time ago when a helicopter landed in a field near the cemetery.

The word went around that it was there to collect the local government minister who had made his usual ostentatious entrance in the church earlier.

The truth was that it was for a big time developer from Dublin who was a personal friend of the deceased.

To this day the now retired minister is still remembered by many locals as the show off in the chopper.

I have no idea who or what you are.

But what I do known is that I am not the odd ball here.

Are you in fact Ryan Tubridy, as you seem to be unnecessarily pointing fingers?

I signed in to make some very accurate observations from the happeings of the weekend.

You just might be the oddball if you take exception to someone posting 100% solid facts.
