Is there not one person around him, that can tell him how bizarre this is? A week long RADIO Show dedicated to the deaf!! I'm not one to take away from the attention needed about the lack of resources for the deaf community and if it was any other minority group there would be uproar, but this is ridiculous.

Deaf people, like meddycool students, should be let do any job that they want, including learning to drive big trucks.

But they can't cos the RSA are mean.
We need more all sorts of free things. It's all the quangos fault, y'know.

A young Mother discovered that not only her chiselur is deaf but he can't hear as well.

Call in on our suppiselasticated numbers and lines and be part of the show. Translators are on hand, cos hypocrite Joe doesn't speak ISL either.

I have 2 friends who are deaf so Im not unaware they have some difficulties, but both are happy go-lucky people who just get on with life. They are not of the "poor me" brigade and so wouldn't be seen(or heard?) dead on Joes tribute shows. It's really badly timed as well. He did about 2 shows dedicated to Ukraine and thought, thats grand I've covered Ukraine, whats next?

According to Citizens Information, there are about 5000 deaf people in Ireland. As of today, there are 15,000 Ukranian refugees in Ireland, and that number could rise to over 100,000. Ukranians, also, are not of the "poor me" brigade, so that maybe doesn't quite fit Joe's agenda.

Anyway, I agree with you, it's a poor topic for a radio programme, being broadcast at a badly judged point in time.

As you say, is there no-one around him who can go "Joe, I dont think that idea will work on radio/Now is not a good time for this topic"

Tents in Gormanstown is never going to happen!!! But the government know people are starting to get antsi about all these house's magically appearing for Ukrainians, when we've had a housing crisis for years!! The, they may look like us, but they're not us brigade (no doubt backed by the Shinners) will be out soon if something is not seen to be done about the mystical magical houses.

Probably why Joe is filling a week with deaf callers, rather than the with people who want to ask these questions!!

I camped with the army in Gormanstown. I've a great story of the night I was fire officer when we had the big storm and three of the tents blew away. These weren't two man tents you buy in Argos, these were 12 man army tents.

We’re financially fooked as per news. A lot not working due to Covid or ridiculously pathetic wages. War in Europe. Services interrupted, Covid letting rip, pathetic health service to begin with, housing issue to get worse with our friends coming from Ukraine. But I bet the Ukrainians will fill a lot of jobs we wouldn’t touch.
