Why would you vote for someone you'd never want to get the seat. Who knows, it could end up being transferred to them eventually. Non transferable votes stop as far as I recall.

Perhaps we could have that nursing director on every morning to remind us of the simple protocols by which we should live; now repeat after me boys and girls: it's masks, hand hygene, vaccine passports,... lol

btw: Can you imagine PK's wrath if an unmasked unvaxed was caught trying to dispatch a greasy pizza box into the recycle bin!!

'No excuse for dumping' all well and good but the ppl that do it don't give 2 fcuks. Take away the incentive, it's not hard to do.

Pat termed his response as "glib". Hit the nail on the head there!

There has been a lot of comment poo-pooing the return of masks even on this station says Pat. In an obvious nod to Kieran Cuddihy on the Hard Shoulder.

    He’s unhinged.

    Masks in the brain 24/7.

    That and Covid in schools.

I turned this on for the first time in about 4 weeks and who is on? Luke O'Neill. And what are they talking about? Bringing back masks, Scotland doing good by extending mask mandates and the fact that each new covid variant will be milder than the previous is just a myth.

Jesus, they are obsessed with this thing

The mixed messaging is a bit much. You’ve got health professionals, and medical experts, calling for them to be brought back and politicians, and internet nutters, saying they don’t make any difference.

Not really. Public health officials, including Tony H have said they are not needed. Other medical groups with vested interests who preside over an annual **** show long before Covid are using it as an excuse.

Yet the health advice to the government from the experts is not to bring them back in?????

My advice is do your own research and make your mind up what is the best course of action for you to take given your own circumstances.

From what I have seen there is no pressure on people one way or the other in day to day life.

I can't really fathom what I'm hearing on the show this morning.

How are we as a country able to react in record time when 40,000 refugees need housing and shelter yet we couldn't help the working man before that. 60-80 family homes lying idle in the Curragh Camp. 30 minutes from Dublin.

A shocking government failure as usual.

Poor Pat he must stay awake at night obsessing about masks he will bring the subject up no matter who or what he is discussing.

A lot of mouse clicking sounds during the interview with the housing minister. Pat was hastily researching questions to ask but, as with most politicians, the answers were vague or unrelated.

Pulling the racism card is a way of shutting debate on this down.

It's just beggars belief really , caught the last bits of the interview with housing minister.

They've reacted alright to Ukranian refugee crisis but as of yet have failed to explain how they are going to fulfill all these extraordinary promises. For a while I actually thought they were just dependent on the generosity of the Irish people in accomodating refugees, now its abundantly clear that, was never going to be a long or indeed short term solution, already hotels filling up, plans a foot to build tent cities essentially and whilst on the surface the Government's gestures seem laudable, there is absolutely no infrastructure in place and I fear these promises have had zero consideration put into them. It's even being suggested 35k new homes will be needed to house Ukranian refugees over the next 5 years.

Spare a thought of course for the refugees already in Direct provision "who don't look like us" , the hypocrisy and Ludicrousy of what is going on is breathtaking.

There was a stark report on prime time during the week on housing, costs and some reality checks . We've already got a housing crisis, property prices rising almost hourly, Materials costs going through the roof (no pun intended) , shortage of supply and staff and already 10k people officially homeless and God knows how many on the housing waiting lists.

Added to this the cost of living crisis 😳 anyone not seeing a Train wreck coming is clearly short sighted. It's just beggars belief watching what's going on , almost in slow motion.

And don't forget that the new pension auto enrollment scheme is directly related to the fact the younger generations will never be able to afford home ownsership thus not having any asset they can potentially offset against their costs of living when retiring.

AFAICS the INMO and other medical unions are the primary voice calling for ther reintroduction of masndatory masking in healthcare settings. Nobody in their right mind holds them responsible for overcrowding in hospitals...

Wasn't it fascinating watching the Heather Humphries doing her press conference announcing this plan and the next day a confidential government report leaked about the fact enormous numbers of people will still be renting in their retirement years, in essence this auto enrollment is to help cover people's rent in their retirement years 🙄, in essence the Government have given up on any notion a large cohort of Irish citizens will never ,ever, ever, ever achieve home ownership.

Heather also busy showing up at photo OP's at Dublin Airport greeting refugees, her own department website is almost an extension of the Ukrainian embassy website. Now just to be clear, I support any support being offered but let's put into context some facts.

Chronic Delays in obtaining a PPS number if you've come here on a work permit.

Shocking delays in processing Illness Benefit

Hoops to be jumped through to qualify for a medical card.

Housing supports , a story in itself

Fuel allowance if your eligible and evidently not if your on a working family payment.

I don't recall Heather or Helen ever, ever being in attendance welcoming Syrian, Iraqi or Yemeni refugees. The Hypocrisy, sickens me and I might add I've seen and been in direct provision centre's, volunteering.

Also to finish , I won't mention the area but a recent news crew was in attendance filming all the wonderful work a local community did, doing up a disused building for use for Ukranian refugees, they painted it, furnished it, new beds and all sorts of wonderful things, it was heart warming .

There's just one slight problem , this very community was up in arms over a proposed local hotel being turned into a Direct provision centre some years back. Absolutely disgusting Hypocrisy and RTE falling over themselves covering it.

Marvellous little country we have 🙄

It seems to be Fine Gaels / FInna Fails policy at this point to push housing out of the reach of single buyers and low income families. Madness how they are propping up the cuckoo and vulture funds.
