You already have savage aspect and generation, another array would have you sorted for electricity 10-11 months of the year. Give me a shout if you are ground mounting as I'm close by and you're welcome to see my ground mounts and pick up any tips

Thank you for the offer slave1. Considering the possibility of adding a ground mount facing east alright as this would have us well covered for the year.

East for heating your water or charging your batteries before you get up in Summer.

West for charging your EV in high of Summer evenings when you get home from work - or just to top up hot water etc.

Solar Panels dropping to 0% VAT in the UK, might be of some use to someone

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 8,299 Mod ✭✭✭✭Jonathan

Excludes NI. EU VAT reduction in the works too, but not sure exactly when it is due.

If it's like in the UK it will be pointless to us normal folk who want to buy/install ourselves.

And since Ireland copy/pastes even the dumb stuff from the UK...

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 8,299 Mod ✭✭✭✭Jonathan

Not necessarily. Here is a direct link to the UK announcement.

The particularly interesting element is the fact that the 60% rule is gone. i.e you can buy a battery, supplied and fitted from a supplier in the UK for say £2,000; Assume the battery cost £1,800, and the labour is £200. That previously would have failed the 60% rule and would have attracted a rate of 21%. Now is is at 0%.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,602 ✭✭✭SD_DRACULA

Yeah the 60% rule was pretty dumb if they really wanted high adoption rates and it would be great if something similar will be done over here but I foresee another FIT type of leading on.

Also, I was told by someone who worked closely on FIT that it will probably not happen this year either so get those batteries ready 😉

Anyone else having an issue with their Solis inverter daily stats not resetting to 0 each night?

Had it earlier in the month where consumption sat at 28kw for 3 days without ever changing and has happened again today.

In the Solis app I have had this issue alright but tend to use home assistant now as app has been like this for last couple weeks

    All good here

At risk of asking the obvious, did you pull down to refresh?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,275 ✭✭✭irishchris

My generation is correct today but notice the consumption is way off and seems to be from yesterday. My consumption is currently 5.1kwh and app is telling me it's four times that

I rarely leave any apps running so it should refresh when I open it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭paulbok

It's the consumption and daily grid that's off, battery and production are ok

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,444 ✭✭✭championc

    Consumption = Generation - Grid.

We have to assume that generation is correct. So either the grid CT is reading wrong, or you have consumption that you have overlooked

Don't forget to change your battery charge/discharge times tonight for those of you who do long charge durations. Night time rates moves from...

    11pm->8am

    to

    12am->9am

Tomorrow should be equally as good as today. Going to be some record setting month for PV. I've already generated my PVSOL forecast and I'm only including generation up until the 25th. 5 days of "bonus" generation!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭paulbok

It's showed 27kw consumption compared to 26.9 yesterday at 7am, and hasn't moved all day. The daily graph looks normal and I checked the meter and it tallies with what would be expected today, so I'm confident there is no large mystery usage. It seems to have got stuck on the display with the first update after midnight.

The battery has charged ok, with a tiny bit of discharge.

Stopped Charging battery early this month... no need any more!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,602 ✭✭✭SD_DRACULA

This happened to me last week with quite a few values (not all) like battery charged/discharged that day, daily consumed and some others.

Funny enough this was the old solis home app but the data was ok in solis cloud.

It happens often enough in the old system, they're supposed to switch it off soon anyway

I wish. I've another few weeks yet sadly yankinlk. On sunny days, my battery get 20% at the moment to get me through to 10am where I start covering load. On darker days it still gets 60% of a 8Kwhr battery from the grid. Setting the SOC level is automated (mostly) though, so I don't have to think about it much - although I didn't factor in the hour change

Stats have all reset correctly overnight on the Solis app.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,275 ✭✭✭irishchris

Not on mine as showing as consumed 27kwh on my nightly base load of 100-200w 😃

Yup, fully charged before 12pm for past 3 weeks but the weather have been great.. 15-20 kW going back into the grid most days

Both Solis Home and Solis Cloud Apps working for me all this week = no stuck issues. Im on Android.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭paulbok

It's reporting the same but incorrectly on both the android app and pc portal so it must be a polling/reporting issue from my inverter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,602 ✭✭✭SD_DRACULA

Hit the IP of the logger and do a restart from the menu, see if it helps. It will restart the wifi logger not the inverter

    Hi Folks,

Currently sourcing quotes for PV and am wondering how are you guys prioritising your generated Solar Power ?

I recently had a heat pump installed and am installing an EV charger.

Could I charge the car using the battery at night although electricity is at its cheapest then ?

Heat pump currently runs for 2 hours at night to heat the water so may not even need an Eddi.

    Any hints are welcome.

It'll probably depend on the size of the system you put in and how much excess production you have to play with each day/month.

With days like today with the sun belting down on the panels like Will Smith, you could have enough to power the HP during the day or give the car a top up, though if the car needs a decent charge you may as well leave it all until night.

The eddi takes a bit of my excess most days after the house load and battery is filled, the last 2 day especially as it's the first time I let the solid fuel stove completely out since getting PV installed in Jan, so it kept the water hot for me instead of the oil boiler. Banking on it saving a fair bit of oil during the summer when the stove is never on. I'll be keeping an eye on the numbers and may prioritise the Eddi ahead of the battery for a few months.

With the HP and EV you probably won't need a battery so it'd probably just come down to which you find best to prioritise, and you could find yourself changing your mind on it a few times.
