And at the end of the year, the drivers championship trophy doesn't care who or what is at fault for whatever incidents happened over the season. The rules that everyone signs up to is that the driver who gets the most points at the end of the season gets their signature and name on the trophy. Highly unlikely but if the FIA had thrown both Lewis and Max out of the championship for being as bad as each other then Carlos Sainz Jr would have been World Champion.

At Monaco he crashed in quali and damaged his gearbox but he still qualified P1. They decided to risk it and start P1 instead of swapping out the gearbox and taking a 5 place grid penalty and then the gearbox failed so he didn't finish. So it kind of was his fault imo and even if they took the grid penalty he was never winning at Monaco from 5th. Maybe this year he will have the consistency of Sainz and if he does then I think he'll beat Sainz because he is a little faster.
