wasnt a great race but delighted to see LeClerc get the win and it’s great to have Ferrari back (hopefully it sticks). But Ferrari and RB are streets ahead of the rest! Mercedes’ will be happy today with a 3, 4 but they know themselves before the SC they were 24 seconds off the pace and falling further! Lots of work to be done to catch up but if Saudi is anything like this weekend it’ll be Ferrari and RB on top again! Roll on the season!

Shoutout for KMag too, what a drive!

It's because, Lewis had a goodish race and Max had a disaster but they never got near each other so there's nothing to say Mercedes-Benz did anything wrong, so the Merc haters have to find something to give out about. I wonder why this has never come up about Billy Monger, or Dario Francitti over on Formula E, or Danica Patrick last year. If nobody had a problem with those drivers, why the hate towards Naomi now? My disappointment is that she joined Sky and not Channel 4, who's producers, Whisper Production, gave her the big break on W Series last year.

    This too shall pass.

Its always the same two or three people soapboxing it to an immediate death aswell.

Hugely disappointed with that result. Let's hope the Bulls can get this issue sorted for next week...

All teams had chance to check them last night. Few teams changed the pumps too.

Possibly the bio fuel pick up is an issue. Ferrari apparently have the best fuel ATM

F1 worried about the planet but allow huge planes do a fly by for sponsorship purposes

Low I believe last year, but not sure they know with the heavier cars and larger tires this year.

I was surprised to see Naomi Schiff on the panel, she was a frankly bang average driver in a handful of w series races from what I knew of her. But she did a great job I thought, much better than Hill with race wins and a world championship on his CV

I have, I don’t speak Dutch so it’s hard to follow at times.

Benson also writes for this broadcaster, so he isn’t saying things in the heat of the moment. His superpower is mentIoning Abu Dhabi in every article he writes.

Pretty sure it was a 1-2 today, not a 1-3. Sainz got 2nd because he finished the race.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

I think he means all things being equal, pace wise Ferrari were 1-3.

Ah, youre right, he finished second. I thought you said he finished second on genuine pace. That would have been untrue as he only finished second due to Max's car failing.

Could be something as relatively simple as RB thinking they know better than Honda in terms of running the engines to the limit.

Great race , anything that wipes Horner's smug grin off his face is worth watching. Oh and Forza scuderia Ferrari. Brilliant to see them back and 1 2.

Again, take your issue up with those who brought up the 'diversity box-ticking' in the first place.

Don't put it on me for pointing out the obvious. A lot of the discourse from a few here was about her race and nothing else.

Everyone who watched practice and qualifying had commented on what a good job she did, it's only on race day that people brought up her skin colour.

If you are really irritated by people bringing race into things, then take it up with them. The fact you took issue with my post over the ones who tried to dismiss how good she was by calling her a 'diversity box-tick' tells me you believe those posts are ok and mine are not. Cool.

Wow that is some stretch. You think people who dislike Lewis are only complaining about Naomi because Lewis got a result? I think that says more about you tbh.

I also seem to remember Danica Patrick got quite a lot of criticism last year. I thought she was quite poor myself.

And for what its worth, I enjoyed Naomis contribution and defended her further back in the thread. I just think your assumption is shocking

To those that complain about those that complain about the token pundit - blame Sky Sports for pandering to the modern woke BS. Without them we would have nothing to moan about!

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

Or maybe they got her in because she's good?

Nothing is ever said about Damon Hill's skin colour, and he's absolutely atrocious.

Now they get a woman on who does a good job and all anyone can talk about is her skin colour.

F*ck off out of here with that bollocks blaming Sky. If she's good, what's the problem?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,653 ✭✭✭✭flazio

So why has there been so little discussion about the race and so much about her?

Sneaky moment on Channel 4. Steve Jones and David Coulthard were interviewing Matio Binotto pre race and DC tried to get Binotto to give away his pit strategy on the basis that this goes out after the race anyway. Now, I saw Drive to Survive, I saw his reaction to Max's double yellow penalty in Qatar while he was in the midst of the Red Bull team. He would have passed that onto Horner, no doubt, had Binotto slipped up. Thankfully he gave a coy "I don't know" answer.

    This too shall pass.

Are you a child? Damon Hill is a F1 world champion. Unbelievable.

You're blaming Sky for your racial prejudices and yet you're calling me a child.

You brought race into it. I don’t see skin colour. My favourite sports people are Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan. You pre judge people based on skin colour, not me.

    He's a crap commentator/pundit, doesn't matter how good a driver he is.

No no, you were one of those who banged on about the 'woke' bollocks and made no remark about Naomi Schiff actual performance in her job.

    You said:

"blame Sky Sports for pandering to the modern woke BS."

Therefore you are saying that the conversations about Naomi Schiff's skin colour are Sky's fault.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 378 ✭✭PaoloGotti

Good man. Read between imaginary lines all you want. I questioned her credentials, not her skin colour. Quote me otherwise.

PS can you explain my unrequited love for tiger woods if I’m a racist?

    Sky f1 headline

"LeClerc win as Red Bull implode"

    Bizarre take

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,605 ✭✭✭McFly85

Ferrari engine has genuine race pace, RB have serious problems to solve and are on the back foot already with Merc looking bang average for the most part, K-Mag storming back into F1 and McLaren looking like they’ve gotten it badly wrong.

Looks like it could be a 3 way fight for the championships(assuming it won’t take too long for RB and Mercedes to sort out their issues) but the battle for 4th could be equally as intriguing. No reason why a Ferrari powered car shouldn’t be targeting it.

Could be setting up a memorable season, bring it on!

I don't think I've seen a single post all day about the Ferrari 1-2. Quite bizarre.

Its the best possible outcome for F1. Its the best possible outcome for true racing fans. Its the best possible antidote to the tiresome Toto/Christian bűllshyt.

The Scuderia have two absolutely excellent drivers, both obviously mentally stronger than any of the childish championship protagonists of the last couple of years. They've brought out a fast car under new rules, showing their engineering heritage. The car itself is one of best looking racing cars ever to touch tarmac, probably since their own 641 model of 1990/1. Even the team members in red and black look superb.

I haven't had a big target for my support in F1 for a long time, but as my pal Danny Ric looks screwed I'm going all in on Forza Ferrari this year. Hopefully for a good mature clean fight between LeClerc and Sainz.
