The worst part of it you can't have a normal conversation about any subject these days without being bombarded with this random conspiracy stuff. Regardless of subject or forum.

This is thread about USA role in events up to invasion. There's been almost no talk of it. I means they obviously were trying to influence things in the elections. But ultimately with very limited success. Because polls after that did not really swing dramatically as a result. It has little influence in the how things have developed since then. There probably not enough USA involvement to make an interesting thread on it.

I think if the Russians had treated the Ukraine better, very little would have won them into a some form of military/economic partnership. But Putin can't share wealth or power. So perhaps that was never going to happen. It was always going to be the strong arm route.

An announcement likely happen in the next few hours or day, but Mariupol has apparently fallen to the Russian-backed forces.

Pretty much wiped out to today. They've fled to wherever they can in the city, the battle over.

Cheerful, why are you pretending to have secret information here?

No one is dumb enough to think you are more informed than anyone else.

From the videos online the entire city seems utterly destroyed.

Other reports are the civilians are being rounded up and sent to camps, some in Russia.

Mission accomplished, Ukraine is liberated. Well done Putin.

The other thing is he seems to genuinely be rooting for Russia.... Cheerful supporter of war crimes...

He doesn't support war crimes, he just edits them out of reality. Like he wants to do with the Holocaust.

Sounds like more fun to come with deporting civilians to only knows where.

Limited Resistance, inside the blue areas. but overall the fight over. It may be delayed the fall announcement till the entire area is all cleared. It not take a week probably a few days at most.

War on and matters who telling the truth. Ukraine was so successful it would show on the map.

I just checked that image, you're getting it from a Russian registered site.

    You aware of that?

Indeed Mariupol might fall, but you have claimed it's already happened, source for that?

So the win is an eviscerated city? Meanwhile they still haven't taken the capital and continue to face massive casualties. It's pretty clear that Putin thought this would be an easy victory but if anything, it looks like he'll get Donbas and Crimea in the long term.

    Western headlines

Russia signals scaled-back war aims as Ukrainians advance near Kyiv

    @nytimes

: Russia signaled on Friday it may be reducing its war aims, announcing that it would now focus its forces on taking more territory in eastern Ukraine and that the goals of the “first stage of the operation” had been “mainly accomplished.”

"Russia thoroughly fooled them, and they determine this a sign of losing? They never understood what the Russians were up to cease with the mind games. Russia doesn’t have the personnel to surround Kyiv and go in yet..

They clustered the Russian army on absorbing Chernihiv, but idiots western media and others are so blind to that.

Instead of shifting forces from Kyiv. There’re likely talking about Mariupol now 99 percent in control by Russian forces DPR, Russian professional army, LPR, and Chechen fighters. Estimates of 30,000 or more soldiers engaged in that battle now join the battles near the Donbas region.

It's in a critical situation, but there's still fighting going on in Mariupol. Cheerful is calling it over because I suspect they are getting info from Russian sources, plus making up some BS about it taking a week to "confirm".

If Russia was so successful it wouldn't still on the same spot on the map.

They now seem to be saying this was their plan along, and could be about to give up on Kyiv.

Russia brought Yanukovych in to "take over" Ukraine, they clearly thought they'd have the whole country by now. Note how you typically support Putin's line in this.

What is your source for Mariupol being lost?

Sit back and observe the Olympic levels of mental gymnastics, whataboutery, creative writing and downright deception about to occur in this thread ;)

Russia's military gains inside Ukraine are shown on Western defense ministry maps, nobody disputes this.

Russia for I can tell has reported honestly about the capture of land inside Ukraine. If Russia people say Mariupol fallen, I believe them till it's shown otherwise..

Announcement is due shortly , this American reporter heard same as I

So if you're pre-empting anything and everything that might be said in this way, why would you think anyone would bother engaging with you?

By your own definition why bother? Its all just going to be mental gymnastics, whataboutery & creative writing - I assume the rest will be lies and Putin propaganda?

You must be so very certain that your own 'sources' wouldn't possibly lie to you.

Even the Pentagon analysts quoted by Newsweek aren't as blinkered as that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,390 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

I'm pre-empting a well-known prolific poster here who is a Holocaust denier, 9/11 truther, serial conspiracy theorist and regurgitates Putin propaganda on a regular basis

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,390 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

What's your source for claiming Mariupol had fallen yesterday? simple question

Likewise, what's your source for that map you posted?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,571 ✭✭✭CalamariFritti

So lets call a spade a spade then. Only Ukrainian and western sources are allowed now is it? Cos everything else will be lies while the former couldn't possibly be that?

Not that I intend to post Russian sources or get into the spat you're having with certain posters or anything. Just trying to establish the ground rules here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,784 ✭✭✭silliussoddius

Well given that no one has explained the conspiracy and seem to have no problem with Russia invading another country (and they tend to be the type who tie the invasion of Iraq into their fantasy world view of what happened on September the 11th), you'll have to excuse the doubt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,390 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

It's the conspiracy forum, no such thing as substantiated sources, corroborated facts or credible evidence here. Just whatever BS someone can make up in their head or from whatever conspiracy site they've been browsing that day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,571 ✭✭✭CalamariFritti

Well thats the problem I have with this thread.

If someone wanted to discuss the topic in the thread title it wouldn't actually be possible. By saying that the West had a hand in the development leading to the invasion of Ukraine; in the views of the prominent posters here you're already apologising Russia's actions and next you get dragged into Putin this and Putin that and the deliberate slaughtering of civilians and war crimes and the rest of it.

There is whole gang lurking just waiting to launch a whole barrage of everything against the slightest signs of dissent with the official story.

So that way the non-discussion of the thread topic becomes a self fulfilling prophecy from which there is no escape.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,678 ✭✭✭✭Flinty997

The conspiracy has to make sense. It's can't be gibberish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,390 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

It's a conspiracy theory forum, not seeing the conspiracy here

That said, conspiracy theorists have a habit of blaming the US for pretty much everything under the sun. So I suspect this thread was created here to avoid the normal scrutiny on normal forums and instead get some validation from people with similar "enlightened" world views (don't trust the official narrative, the mainstream media, etc)

The US is secretly removing the conspiracies from these threads. I'll try to add some back.

NATO has forced Russia to overfly Ireland to force Ireland to join NATO. It's that's pressure from Ireland that's caused this invasion.
