What has happened Munster? Since disallowed try they have lost their way.

    Need a score late on.

Paid professionals and they can't throw a **** ball straight surprised to see dealende towards the end, didn't realise he was on the pitch

I only saw last quarter of this game live as I fast forwarded through first 60 mins but looked like Munster were in complete control against a team struggling in URC but something went wrong somewhere and Munster seemed to pluck defeat from jaws of victory.

That's really disappointing. Not ideal to be losing 2 games on the bounce like that. SA trip harder than expected.

No, the SA trip was exactly as hard as expected. They're at home and at altitude with full squads to pick from.

Munster shouldn't have lost that, but the teams down there these two weekends are at a serious disadvantage compared to those who'll go there with their internationals available.

I have absolutely no idea how Munster threw that away. Coaches phoning it in at this point, total lack of leadership on and off the pitch.

    Lions don’t have international players,and it’s their 3rd game in 7 days.

I think based on the fixtures remaining, we will finish 5th, and Sharks will finish 3rd or 4th. If Edinburgh beat them next week it may mean they'll finish 4th, and facing Sharks away in the quarters, and then probably Leinster away in the semis, and the best of the rest in the final, perhaps Ulster or Stormers, if that's comes to pass it will be a very unlikely path to win the league.

Bottom line is this loss today has thrown a very handy draw in jeopardy now, it's a major problem, we'll have to beat Leinster or Ulster and make sure we beat Benetton and Cardiff well to move up into the top 4 now, and I don't think we'll do it, and very likely we'll crash out in the quarters now.

Sharks also play Leinster (at sea level) and finish away to Ulster. As I said, it's not a easy for the others are you make out.

I’m expecting Sharks to beat Leinster at home and lose to Ulster away.

Have a look through it yourself, I did and Munster are under serious pressure for a home quarter now, and I think the chances of a home semi now will be very unlikely.

We need a lot of things to go our way elsewhere, and we have to win at least 3 out of our last 5 matches now to have any realistic hope of a home quarter.

More in the sense that I don't think too many were predicting 2 losses but am open to correction if they were.

I was predicting 2 close games, I wasn't predicting more dropped balls than a teenage disco, professional players who don't know where the offside line is and knock-on after knock-on after knock-on

But I guess I got the "2 close games" part right

Who do people think is ahead in the pecking order at the moment, Ben Healy or Jack Crowley?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Awful second half performance. Not a fan of that ref (mainly because he looks like he’s wearing basketball shorts when he’s out there) but their go ahead penalty was ridiculous. The squint line out they jumped across too. Could have done with one of them going their way,

Have to agree, but Munster's attempts to give both game time is backfiring as neither is getting enough game time. I am also waiting to be convinced that Carbery is the answer.

That's nonsense ben has 33 caps at 22 and jack has 15 caps this year their getting plenty of time as it is. Joey may be an issue alright

That is a worrying stat. The Cheetahs and Kings joined in 2017 so the SA weather is nothing new at this stage. Munster finished with 3 SA players in the pack and have a SA manager. Fair enough for the 4 SA teams its the first time they are playing up north so weather can be used as a excuse this year.

I wonder how NZ teams did in SA?

We were probably more prepared for the original trip as we had a extra week prep time and had a few more experienced players to use too but that's the roll of the dice. Add in being rode last week and the TMO getting it technically incorrect yesterday we really didn't get much luck on the trip.

Leaving SA with only two points is very disappointing at this stage.

The point I was trying to make, (badly), is that in Carbery's absence, Healy will start one game and Crowley will start the next, so neither is getting a run of games and the chance to settle in properly.

  • Posts: 10,091 ✭✭✭✭ Ryan Whispering Bassoon

Ya fair enough. I'm not sure that's a harm to be honest for a young player. Get your game with big minutes in and be able to concintrate on work ons for a game cycle. Then into thr next game cycle to implement thr plan including those work ons

The Bokke sides are a different proposition in SA. I don't see much hope for many sides playing down there!

But, they play up here in dire wintry conditions, so it does even out.

Munster will be unhappy with this visit. But, the Cardiff Blues were absolutely melted this weekend. I expect Leinster won't sweep any of these sides away in the heat and at altitude!

    It's good for the league!

Selling 2 tickets to the Munster v Leinster game, section 207 row U, can't make it anymore. Well sell for less than ticketmaster price (I paid 114 in total).

Craig Casey, Gavin Coombes and Jeremy Loughman all return to the HPC this week having been part of the Ireland squad for the 6 Nations.

Jason Jenkins has returned to full training and is available for selection after recovering from an abdomen injury.

Mike Haley sustained a low-grade knee injury against Lions on Saturday and will rehab over the coming weeks.

Thomas Ahern (thigh), Keith Earls (thigh) and Roman Salanoa (ankle) have all increased their training load this week with the trio targeting a return to training next week.

Good to have the three lads back from the Ireland camp for Friday. They were missed in SA. Hopefully Earls and Ahern will be available for Leinster and Exeter.

I know Munster don't usually include academy players in their injury updates but it would be great if Campbell was available to fill in for Haley on Friday night.

He went off following a failed HIA in the 20's game on Sunday so might not be available.

Happy to stand corrected , but I think he failed a HIA in one of the earlier games as well - He definitely went off injured.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,507 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Haley out is an opportunity for someone new at FB. Wonder will Zebo be shifted to there, especially if Earls is making a return... would be interesting also if Joey got named there.

Patrick Campbell is surely in with a shout too. Is Matt Gallagher leaving? If he is then I hope it's Campbell named instead of him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,513 ✭✭✭✭phog

Yeah I know he went off in the U20s game and that's why I mentioned Munster not giving injury updates on academy players but I think if he was available then Friday night might be an opportunity for him.

Earls and Carbery won't be available for Friday and it's unlikely that Campbell will be either.
