Cancelling (vodafone) broadband out of contract?

Hi, I have a broadband-only plan with vodafone. The contract rolls over (starts a new 12-month period) in about a week. I want to cancel but when I call them they tell me that I will have to pay for the next 30 days? Is this correct?

Yes as you have to give 30 days notice to cancel it

After the initial 12 months you are out of your minimum term and you can cancel anytime giving 30 days notice. There isn't any new 12-month period (unless you agree to one). Section 11 in their T&Cs. (can't post the link unfortunately)
