The Artful Escape, it's on gamepass if you have that

Would be perfect but I've finished it already.

Thanks guys, Sayonara and Forgotten City should do the trick. I tried Deaths Door and found it very boring. Maybe I'll give it another go.

Also I see there's some Spirit Farer DLC out, loved that game!

It's a throwaway distraction and quite short, but erstwhile meme Untitled Goose Game was a legitimately fun game for just decompressing. Just to arse about, steal a farmer's carrots - it was quite therapeutic (along with being a decent stealth game in its own right)

Psychonauts 2. Incredible game with a fascinating and unique story.

Yes! I had started this and meant to get back to it but completely forgot. Can't remember why I stopped, I had been enjoying it.

I've just noticed you can play games on the cloud from the game pass app on xbox. There's a play button with a cloud icon on it. Is this new?

Relatively new, yeah. Handy if a game has a massive game file.

Newish on the consoles, but you have been able to play them on your phone for a fair while. I Think about 100 games work from the cloud.

You can use your Xbox one too. And it will stream the Series X version. All the cloud games run on series X servers.

I got a little clip for the controller and slot the phone into it to play in bed.

The cloud is really handy if you just want to jump in and see if a game suits. I had about an hour spare one night. Wanted to play Halo and it would have taken most of my hour to get it downloaded.

Stuck on the cloud and played it on the series X. Then after an hour I liked it so just hit download before heading to bed.

Yeah play it on the phone myself on occassions, great for certain types of games like Minecraft dungeons and Hades. I've the razer controller myself, it's pretty good.

It's surprisingly good. I've always hated mobile gaming so always had a block against it. But played most of RE8 on my phone on Sunday mornings.

Life is Strange. Started this a couple of days ago. Only on episode 2 as I have been taking my time with it as I'm not sure what to make of it. Very slow pace and weird as well imo.

Anyone here play it and what did they think of it?

The original game? I really enjoyed it. It really picks up in the later episodes and the ending to it was a total sucker punch. I have LiS 2 and I have tried several times to get stuck into it and I can't work up the same enthusiasm for it..

Yep the first one. I own it a few years but never played it for some reason. That's good it picks up as it is pretty slow moving. Regarding the options or decisions I just pick which one I would if it was me.

Loved Life is Strange 1. Nice easy going on eps 1 & 2 and really ramps up for 3-5, loved the whole thing. Lis 2 was a strange one. Loved ep 1, liked 2, hated 3 to the point i gave up until i was urged to go back and then ep 4 and 5 were just brilliant. Series not for everyone but an absolute joy for those who click with it.

Enjoying Forgotten City. Its refreshing to play an RPG where you don't have to spend 10 mins travelling on your horse to get to part B

EA Motive had another Dead Space dev stream on Friday. Focusing on audio this time.

I think these are brilliant, for anyone into gaming it gives an insight into how insanely difficult games are to make. It shows the amount of work that goes into something like this and it's only a fraction of the end experience.

The directional audio one is really interesting, how they block or muffle audio based on the surface it's behind. Or how they move audio down a corridor and around a corner.

Here it is but It's worth checking them all out.

The original Dead Space was a decent game but the sound design was incredible in it. Interested in seeing how they top that in the new one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,370 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

From that demo is looks like it could really throw you off. Sound coming from a room on the right is now blocked by the big steal doors but reflects off the surface so it can travel down a corridor and appears to come from the left.

I LOVE great sound design/implementation in a game. Nice to see (hear) they're taking this stuff seriously.

No, I think it will actually help you track the sound better - the sound now guides towards the event that causes it, which is better from the realism and immersion point of view.

Oh Subnautica 2 will be great in the audio category i'm sure!

Subnautica 2? When is that due?

Loved the first, would be great to see a slightly higher budgeted sequel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,554 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Yeah you can't just start throwing around Subnautica 2 like that. Hopefully they make it one day. I'm waiting for Below Zero to be added to PS Plus or PS Now to take a double dip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,771 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

Oh it's a given, but yeah, years away. They said they will return but are working on something else first. It's a definite win for them when they do, both Subnauticas were excellent, and with advances in 3D audio, and hopefully full haptic integration, it would be a GOTY contender before it releases. Just seeing what others are doing with their games and what is yet to come, I see a current gen Subnautica being amazing. Yes, I'm hyping it up too much and it's not even on the drawing board yet, but my god I miss it and want a lot more of it.

It's crazy, i remember some people here saying how good it was and a must play. I looked it up and thought, how good could it really be swimming around trying to survive, put it on off for a done as i didn't think it would be for me. It's now my 3rd favourite game of all time. Give me MOAR.

I haven't played below zero, lucky me I still have it to look forward to.

I played Subnautica on PC, which I've pretty much packed away now as its specs are at best on par with my series x and also with working from home the last thing I want to do with my evening is extend my time sitting at the same desk looking at the same monitor. I'm a bit put off playing Subnautica with a controller, which has been enough to put me off playing it. Think I'll get over it though and start playing it.
