Fantastic weather (finally!) to get the Fiesta out of the shed and stretch its legs. Ran like a champ despite being locked up for a long time.

Just wish there were a few shows and club runs happening. Hopefully later this summer.

I’m the 2nd owner, 43000 miles, history available, I have it maybe 25 years, it’s a ‘73 Mk 1 escort 1100, unmolested example, not even a radio. Assembled in Cork.

Considered selling several times when kids were smaller and they stopped me with tears.... now they are adults and it’s going nowhere.

Its a beauty. I am a big fan of the standard, unmolested cars.

And not that it matters - but its worth a fortune. I would never sell it either.

Thanks, the colour is quite modern , I’m vaguely aware it could make strong money, well north of €10000 I’m told and yes they are disappearing, many went to the rally Lads.

I’m planning on treating it shortly to a full mechanical check, hoses, brake pipes, bushes etc etc to ensure it goes on well into the future

check your security and your insurance agreed valuation, very desirable to some light fingered persons. Irish reg makes it more so.

Never thought it might get stolen, it’s garaged year round apart from the odd club run when it might be vulnerable when having lunch etc, maybe I should put a chain - steering wheel to drivers seat on those occasions.

It’s insured appropriately, very important that.

Are classic cars being stolen to any degree, must say wasn’t aware of any going stray.

Gave a much needed polish over the weekend. In for NCT next month, so a service and some other bits and pieces to get sorted in the meantime.

An 1985 735i e23 with 84k miles I picked up in London a few year ago. Drives well....loooves petrol 😂

I also have an Irish registered 81 Ford Fiesta Mk1 XR2 being restored. Anyone know of anyone who might have an interior for one?

Well I decided to get a classic again after selling the 924. So I went out looking with the following ideas in my head

    • Must be an auto
    • 4 door
    • Petrol
    • Something a bit different

I would have loved a nice 5 series or E class Merc from the 80's but they were either all rust or silly money. So what did I get?

And yes that is a red Velour interior!
