That joyous feeling when you're free from that horrific train wreck that is online dating. It just made me wonder what people's experiences have been from them. Obviously you hear the rare story of people finding their partner to be on there and more frequently the creepier experiences. I have over 9000 of them at this stage. One request was from a married man of course who wanted me to dress as a man while he dress as a woman and I do his make up and then we get it on. How tempting 🙈 what are ye're stories?

I met a Russian lady online. We met up in a hotel in Moscow with her friend. They turned out to be a pair of pi$sy missies

I've tried my hand at online dating for the last 5 weeks or so and so far I've found it to be just a gigantic shitshow. An absolute waste of time. Its basically just a cattle mart - only for people. I've tried to get chatting to people and be open and engaging but nothing seems to work - after a handful of messages it's ghost town! What's the point

Has it changed in the past ten years? I used POF and then also Tinder back in the day and found them pretty good. But it cannot be used as a one trick pony, just see it as another string to yer bow. The great thing about it is it's working for you as you sleep/work/whatever. It's key to realize it's a target rich but low success environment. Ya need to set your strategy with that in mind.

First they came for the socialists...

My horror story is that I don't have any stories. I still haven't managed to get a date.

Was looking for the ride. Got chatting to this hot Moldovan, around 40. She seemed alright, albeit a bit mad.

Invited over to her house on first meet. She had a family gathering so I had to wait outside in the car for about 15 minutes until they left.

I go in. Turns out her son, who must have been 7 or 8 was still in the house.

She already had wine taken. Turns on blaring music.

About 10 minutes after I arrive she asks me to drive her up to the local spar, she wants to get some coke. As someone who doesn't do drugs, I didn't drive her up. She gets a taxi, I'm sitting there in the house by myself.

She comes back, starts doing lines. Gets mouldy drunk. She's all over me but I'm uncomfortable as her son keeps coming in and I try to get her to calm down and relax a bit. She's yelling at him to go back to his room every time he comes in. Little kid looked very unhappy at seeing me there.

I try make an escape but she starts crying saying don't leave me. I stay for another hour until I eventually manage to get away.

The joke was never much good, dude, but it’s time to put it to rest once and for all. First reply and no thanks says it all.

Years ago met a fella online. Met him and he was a complete weirdo. Was infatuated with me and told me he loved me on the first date. He was texting and phoning me constantly after telling me he wants to marry me etc. I had made the mistake of telling him the school I worked at and he used sit outside the school watching for me. One day he followed me home. He sat outside my house for hours at a time. One time he smeared the front door with berries. Didn't get rid of him until I moved schools and house 2 months later.

Some of these stories make me glad I never went down the Online Dating path.

I don't know, trying to find someone you'd spend the rest of your life on an app always felt cold and sterile to me.

When I match with people on tinder I always end up deleting the app in blind panic.

    🙈🙉🙊

I met my husband online years ago, to be honest mostly had good experiences with it, but yeah the odd weirdo, for some reason, I use to attract middle-aged alcoholics or no longer drinking alcoholics, not the down and out types but the types that would be very familiar with the pubs on Baggot street often interesting characters. At the time you did get a fair few of the dense pests who were only looking for sex and seemed to get very annoyed why that wasn't working out for them plus a fair few with issues.

The thing that always puzzled me, was you would meet someone and on paper, it should have worked but no spark, human nature is complicated😅

A mixed bag but mostly good.

Its horrendous really. It's supposed to be about finding love or the one but it's so clinical and like you said - cold for the most part. I'll leave my profile up for another while but it might be time to step away for a week or two for sanitys sake

Just think, that sad little man is online dating as well, no wonder it doesn't work.

"Interests: gimmick posting on message boards". What a catch!

Does the town where she lives start with letter C in a county that starts with letter K? I think I might know her.....does her name start with K also?

Only ever had positive experiences with online dating.

Who knows, maybe the people I was dating wouldn't say the same.

I met up with a girl a few years ago, we had nothing fancy planned, just have a chat in the car for a while maybe and walk around the park or something.

She texted me about 10 mins before our agreed time that she wouldn't be coming, no explanation or apology for cancelling. I was a bit puzzled but said ok no problem.

About an hour later she texted me again saying she was now free to meet up. I explained I was about to head home but she convinced me that I was already after driving into the city so we may as well meet up.

We met up anyway and chatted away getting on well enough. After maybe an hour I asked her was everything ok that she was delayed earlier on. She told she had cancelled as she didn't think she'd have time to meet me as she was having sex with another fella at the time!!

I half started laughing thinking she was joking. But no, she rode the other chap before meeting me without even having a shower inbetween 🤮 Thankfully we didn't kiss or anything.

We went our separate ways anyway and she later told me she was puzzled why I didn't ask her on a second date.

she was showing signs of borderline personality disorder, its common enough, a horrendous disorder, but its hard to tell, definitely some sort of psychological issues going on there

Ah yeah, i felt sorry for her but not sure what I could do to help.

Jesus I've heard of serial daters but that's taking the piss.

A friend of mine said he went on a date with a woman who was not only married but heavily pregnant.

I didn't have too many nightmares personally.

One guy I met was at least 10 years older than his picture...nice fella and if he had been honest I might have been interested.

I was probably another guys nightmare date to be fair. We went on a first date I was so nervous (I think I was 19)...I not only accidentally spilled a pint on him....I spilled two within the space of about am hour...we did go out for a few months after that, and he then broke up with me, I used to get the odd drunken apology call.

If the fella was 10 years older than his picture it means he sent you a picture of himself when he was 10 ........... and you agreed to meet up with him 😮

A bit weird for a 30 year old to be sending a photo of themselves that was 20 years old. Was it your man Creaven from RTE?

Did he only have the one photo or did he have a few and looked younger in all of them?

Come to think of it, most of my photos were taken well before the pandemic. They're not 10 years old granted, but I reckon I've a few more grey hairs now. 😆
