Bus Services between JFK and hotels in Time Square, New York

My niece is travelling to New York on her own for job interview next week. She is looking at getting from JFK around 6 p.m. to Marriott Hotel, Time Square. She's not really happy to take a taxi - doesn't feel safe doing it, and for expense also. About 6 years ago we were in New York and got pre booked seats on a bus from JFK that dropped off people at various hotels in New York. We can't remember the name of this bus company - just wondered if anyone else has used a bus company from JFK into Time Square.?We thought the hotel would have it's own schutltle service to the airport, but it doesn't.
