And if you were that much of t**t to want to be called Rambo, no one would go along with it.

I think this one was just looking for attention on the airwaves and a rant about Putin. If she has a son, his army experience is probably call of duty.

Wallace is probably putting in a bid to rebuild the gate as we speak. A good job here and Vlad might get him to rebuild some of the evil cities that the pesky locals force him to ruin.

There was a lad in my class in secondary school who had an abnormal interest in military artillery and weapons for a teenager in late 80s Ireland. He used to order “Guns & Ammo” type magazines from the local newsagents who had to get them in especially for him - it wasn’t exactly a subject of high interest as you can imagine. He was also shall we say a little “different” so to speak…..an odd character to put it mildly. I always thought I’d pick up a newspaper one day and see he’d murdered 20 people in a mass shooting spree before turning his weapons on himself.

Anyway, he’s who I thought of when reading the thread….we used to call him Rambo too, though not to his face…..

De Ambassador not impressed with the reversing skills of the truck driver earlier, quoting all sorts of rules and regulations, he should stick them up his swiss so to speak...

In a statement, the Russian embassy condemned what it described as "a criminal act of insanity directed against a peaceful diplomatic mission".

It said the incident "took place in the presence of Garda officers who stood idle", adding that that it viewed the incident as "a clear and blatant violation of Article 22 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic relations of 1961".

The embassy is demanding that Irish authorities "take comprehensive measures" to ensure the safety of embassy staff, and says it is in contact with the Department of Foreign Affairs here.

"The incident is cause of extreme concern. We believe that no people of sound mind could support such senseless and barbaric actions," it added.

Gardaí have said they do not comment on statements or remarks by third parties.

It does beg the question how the driver managed to reverse into gates without gardai intervening, the videos don't appear to show any Gardai near by , unless I missed something. I'd have thought there'd be quite a Garda presence outside the Embassy 🤔

    Or perhaps...

It might have been the Gardai being very, Civil, understanding, charming, Delightful and helpful, guiding the Truck Driver Terrorist as he gently reversed neatly into the gates and wall 😁 all very civily, so to speak

I'm allways a bit reluctant to make fun of anyone deemed "different" to what society decides is normal, Ireland, the world all need "different" , everyone can't be going round wearing the latest fashion like a uniform, listening to the same bland music chosen for them and following the same half dozen premiership teams or whatever.... The world needs variety and difference now more than ever, questioners, thinkers outside the box, those not afraid to be themselves and to hell with the rest, there's even room for a few "oddballs", those ones we used to call "a bit simple" in my unpolitically correct youth... and I don't care what form that difference takes as long as its legal

Vive le difference or something like that ✌️😉

As far as the Gardaí would be concerned there was a church commodities delivery truck simply turning around, nothing illegal in that. They could T see inside de head of de droiver as to other intentions do to speak.

They are the same guards on duty there most of time, they have got to know a lot of the protesters and have chats with them. Same protesters too, we greet each other, shake hands etc. It’s all very friendly. The guards look away from the gates up and down the road a lot of the time, so to speak. They are not going to physically restrain anyone from doing anything when they know there is no intention to endanger anybody present. They just do de requisite arrest after de act, with protesters ordinarily offering zero resistance more than willing to account for themselves.

Possibly but very unlikely any veeeeehicle, especially a truck would be permitted to use the entrance of an embassy, especially this one to reverse and turn around 🤔

I suspect Gardai were having their sambos Cawlur and caught of gard completely, but of course remained Civil at all times, especially when arresting the Terrorist Truck Driver 😁

The driver sez he did it to create a safe corridor for the Russian ambassador to leave Ireland, how thoughtful of him...

De guards do be chatting with protesters about de weather an dat, dey don’t always see precisely what happens behind der backs, so to speak.

It would be remarkable if this act went down in de skewel history bukes as a catalyst for a change in events. ☢️☢️☢️

Mr Pewtin must be pretty rattled up all the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,199 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

O, I'm not doubting the Gardai on Duty are Civil, chatty, pleasant with the protesters generally, indeed I'm sure theres mutal sharing of Mariatetta Biscuits and Sticky Buns, so to speak but I still think they were caught of gard.

I don't believe this will become anything but a laughable, preposterous rant by the ambassador, I'd have to imagine Russian Embassies around the world have protesters camped outside and incidents like this, but we can at least lay claim to having our very own Rev Father Banksy 😁

The truck invasion is a great story. A truck full of holy things for the Mass and dat, and altar wine, not vodka. Doubt any in the Russian Embassy use that merch.

He will be a hero, not least in Ballinamore. Ya hup.

He seems to have a pair of them. Perhaps he takes them around to see the sights, so to speak, and when he gets back home places them back in the garden at each end of a bench, like a pair of wally dugs, so to speak, caller.
