sounds like humour. However the Undernet has been pretty much wiped out.

They are working on an Undernet V2.

    IRC World Comes to End
Script Kiddies Unsure What to Do With Spare Time Now
Persistent, overpowering Denial of Service (DoS) attacks have finally achieved their goal, as IRC networks the world over have shut down due to server overloads.
Weeks of packet storms have pounded every network from DALnet down to Dwarfstar as script kiddie forces mobilized to annoy millions of IRC users. Network splits, malfunctioning services, and immense latency were just the beginning of the horrors of war experienced by chatters all over the globe.

BORED: 5c0ur93 isn't sure what he'll do with his spare time now that he's brought down the world's leading chat networks.
"It was crazy, man," said katter0s, a regular in #kentucky on the former DALnet network. "You'd never know from one day to the next whether you'd be able to get online. And the lag!"

The network difficulties undermined many an online relationship. Several chatters were torn apart by the packet war in the middle of carefully planned cybersex encounters.

"I had just gotten this chick to send me a pic of herself," said Undernet regular jeffrey24m. "Then her server went down and I lost her, maybe forever. With X and W down, how will i ever find her again?"

jeffrey24m's worries were rendered moot when Undernet issued a statement on its Web site that it was taking its chat services offline permanently.

Not everyone is upset by the turn of events, however. Packet monkeys around the world are rejoicing in their defeat of the planet's IRC networks.

Unfortunately, they are unable to share the joy of victory, because they have no way of contacting each other. Still, the thrill of upending IRC for no particular reason except to compensate for their sexual inadequacies was felt by hundreds of script kiddies.

    "w3 0wn 1RC," said 5c0ur93, one of the countless packet-shell foot soldiers who took part in the offensive. "3y3 h4v3 kn0wn 4ll 4l0n9 7h47 3y3 4r3 c33 w45 d00m3d. w3 4r3 f4r l33ter th4n j00."

5c0ur93 said that the destruction of all IRC networks was the result of weeks of coordinated activity. He added that most of his cohorts spent 16-hour days in front of their computers.

"It wasn't too hard," he said. "I mean, none of us had anything in particular happening for a few weeks, so we figured, what the hell? Let's bring down IRC.

"It was just lucky that I got fired from the Chicken Hut on account of how I don't read so good."

Now that their mission is accomplished, the packet warriors aren't sure what to do with their time.

"There's really nothing good on TV during the afternoon," said eyeownjoo, a Boston-area script kiddie. "And I tried getting a job, but everyone said I was 'a self-centered, arrogant ******* with no concept of reality.' Whatever that means. I guess I could try to make some friends, but that didn't go so well the last time."

    5c0ur93 was equally equivocal.

"I dunno," he said when asked his plans in the postwar world. "I mean, maybe we could packet Yahoo or something. That's always fun.

    "Hell, there's always pr0n."
