Does it come up if you put the reg in to the NCT website or Cartell.ie?

If you put the reg in to the Motortax website to see the rate does it return a value?

I had a strange occurance looking at a car a couple of weeks ago, sub €5k big engined barge that would have been circa €100k new. When I went to motortax it couldn't be found, vehicle wasn't exempt nor a government vehicle. It looked to me that it was exported for VRT refund and then for resale here, this would result in me having to repay the VRT as if it was an import from outside the country so I dodged a bullet by not buying it.

I'm assuming this, when I went to recheck they had it removed from Donedeal. I believe everything would have checked out for me and I'd have only noticed the problem when I sent the logbook in and wouldn't have been issued a new one.

I was thinking they could apply for a replacement before getting vrt refund, then use first one for refund and try to sell to me with replacement.
