Wild Atlantic Étape / Pedal and Putt / Let's Cycle Ireland scam?

Hi all,

Not been on Boards for a while but....

I'm curious if any of you guys have had any dealings with "Wild Atlantic Étape", "Pedal & Putt" or "Let's Cycle Ireland"?

They took full payment of over €4000 for a group trip earlier this year. It was for a Wild Atlantic Étape tour and when it was canceled due to Covid they promised a full refund. This has not happened and they now are not responding to any contract.

Be careful if dealing with these companies.

Get onto your bank and request a charge back if they aren't responding. Charge backs are investigated on both sides, the bank will see they promised a refund when you submit emails to them so should be an easy case.

I am having the same problem communicating with the owner of Wild Atlantic Way on rescheduling our cancelled trip of 2020. He continues to not show up for Zoom sessions to discuss finalizing new dates for this June.

I see the director of the company, Michael O'Boyle, now is down as the CEO of Cycling solutions on Linkedin

Something not quite right. Different company linked with new company and offering very similar packages.

That bike friendly employer certification thing looks like a legalised scam too

I don't know what happened here............I did a couple of stages of the Wild Atlantic Way Sportif with them, the numbers were much lower than expected, and as a result Fáilte Ireland withdrew funding. <admin snip>

they then changed the name to Wild Atlantic Etap, and the website is still there, but no presence on Twitter or FB.

Yeah that cycling friendly employer thing looks shaky at best, can’t find any references to it being backed by the EU, only mentions “European Organisations coming together to establish the certificate”.

In saying that, someone in the government was either a) dumb enough to sign up for it or b) smart enough to get it signed off on paying for it

Just to update those here who may be following this thread.

Following Garda involvement, we eventually did manage to get our refund. But we got there.

I was impacted by him too. He also didn't show up for zoom meetings for me. No explanation given.
