    Hi all,

I recently bought a swim snorkel for pool swimming, just trying to get my breathing right, so as it stands I am breathing in through the tube & out through my nose, is this correct? Ive been told to breathe in & out through the tube? On YouTube I dont see anybody in videos exhaling through their nose?

    Any help would be appreciated.

It's been a while since I used my front snorkel but I used to always breath in & out of the tube. If I tried anything else then I think I used to start swallowing water but that could have just been me. This page on 360swim states you can exhale either way:

I am not sure what you are trying to correct from a breathing perspective with a snorkel but I have mostly used mine for kicking, sculling, and catch/pull drills. For breathing I have used a pull buoy (or fins) to take the legs out of the equation and maybe a kick board out front and do single arm front crawl drills. If you are not at that stage yet then sink downs (sometimes called bobs) are a good way to "teach" your body to exhale as soon as your face goes into the water.
