I haven't had it and I don't want to get it. I think I'll continue wearing an ffp2 mask for personal protection when entering anywhere with lots of people.

Like I won't be wearing a mask in my local corner shop with 3 or 4 people in it. But if I have to go to a supermarket that's pretty packed I think I'll wear the mask despite how much I hate wearing them.

I’ve had it for a week now and still pretty sick. Much more like a bad chest/sinus infection than a cold. Still testing positive day 7 :( the fatigue is one of the worst things.

I didn’t declare my positive antigens to HSE because I’m due to travel in early May and worried if I declare it I won’t get my booster on time. According to HSE antigen tests don’t count for a recovery cert. I’ve no idea if you are prevented getting a booster if you’ve had a positive antigen but don’t want to risk it. A friend who had a positive PCR was prevented getting the booster for 3 months so maybe they only do that for PCR.

Picked up COVID - already have the booster from December. Any point in getting PCR test for cert of recovery?

Song for 28th February 2022 - hopefully a landmark day as we transition out of the Covid crisis.

Great to get rid of the masks!!

    2 long but fascinating years.

Amazing how quickly people have moved on.

Some people have an innate immunity and this was clear as early as the Diamond Princess.

I find it more amazing how many people were entrenched with it, I think the "moving on" will be slower than you think especially with worried & virtue signalers who will wear masks ongoing. Either way, its a great and positive day so I shouldn't gripe

Perspex screens down this morning in our local shop. Arrow signs all gone from the floor. About 50/50 break on those still wearing masks, staff were still wearing.

Checkout girl inlocal Londis told me last week some of the older customers said they wont shop there unless the staff continue mask up so management has told them they are still required.

Was in Spain 2 weeks ago, just a couple of days AFTER Spain removed the OUTSIDE mask mandate. I would say about 50% of people were still wearing masks outside!! And of those 50%, I would say 75% of them were young people. While I respect the right of anyone to wear a mask whenever they want, I found it very strange that young people in the open air felt the need to, compared to elders.

Was passing through Roscommon this morning and stopped for coffee in a super valu.

Every member of staff and all customers were masked up.

I was told by the person serving that she felt "its a bit soon"

The same masks that we didn't need for the first few months of the pandemic

I'd say give it a day or two. Roscommon people tend not to wash their teeth. They also steal sheep.

    Nationwide Stockholm syndrome.

Will take time and possibly some therapy for some of these people to readjust. And that's if they ever do.

I'm ok with it as long as they don't force their views on me.

In getting hair done today and wearing a mask (as just over COVID so feel better to wear it for hairdresser). No one else wearing one, I’ll be rid of them now by the weekend.

So we're down to only 8k tests.

Wife who is a part time swabber has cut back to one day a week & currently on a 3 week holiday. I reckon they'll be folded up before she's due back.

ironically I just got my positive PCR result on the day the final restrictions are lifted, after dodging it for nearly 2 years. My daughter got it at a disco, as all her friends did as well. Caught it from her I presume. Interestingly that the same gang of girls have been in school together all this time with very few cases, the mask wearing and window opening seemed to work.

Anyway, if this virus is like I feel now after being vaccinated, boosted and fit and healthy I'd hate to feel like what its like without vaccinations. Its definitely not feeling like a "mild cold"

Same boat got through 2 yrs of this and caught it now. Positive pcr test saturday Mild cold my hole feel like someone put a block on my chest

My wife and 2 of our best mates caught it at/after the Ireland v Wales game and were all quite ill from it. I didn't test positive until a week after and didn't have any symptoms, kids negative the whole time. Funny old virus.

Anyway, was up North today with work...stopped at Castlebellingham service station and there was only 1 person in the place with a mask on. Actually saw more people with masks on in Belfast, despite the restrictions having been lifted there sooner....purely anecdotal though.

    It's great to be free!

I'm no scientist but I think some of the variance on how sick you get is to do with viral load. If you are in a car with someone for 3 hours for example, who is in peak contagious mode then you are going to get it worse than someone who picks up traces of it in a household for example. Same disease, both positive but one will get sicker than the other irrespective of their underlying health. Obviously if you have poor health, not vaccinated etc. then its a worse outcome

That's a new one. Covid made your hole feel like someone put a block on your chest. 😀

Are masks still mandatory on public transport?

George Lee back on RTE News waffling about climate change, he says those 10 years old and younger will see 5 times more extreme weather events in their lives than we see today...good to see normal waffle service has resumed, Covid is over.

I see, while some of us have been been off to war, ICU is now south of 50 cases. So good to see that!

Went to Aldi earlier, and then to a Tesco afterwards for something else. Maskless. Felt damn good not wandering around with a mask!

In terms of numbers, I'd say 2 thirds were still wearing masks. I'd imagine of those two thirds that probably half haven't remembered masks are not required, and half want to continue.

How can you estimate how many people think something? Genuinely amazed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,521 ✭✭✭✭hotmail.com

Have you never tried to guess what people are thinking? Genuinely amazed about that.

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,975 ✭✭✭podgeandrodge

Ahh you see Jim, I didn't want to say, but I asked every shopper, told them it was a mini survey. They were more than happy to assist. 😄

No, of course, you are correct. I shouldn't have estimated without cold hard facts. So there is no need for you to be amazed, even genuinely.

Having said that, plenty of friends and co-workers have mentioned that they forgot to take their masks off today, so I am pretty confident that there is a mixture of forgot/want to continue wearing masks right now. There I go again, estimating without facts! Please continue to keep me on my guard! 😄

Woohoo...just over 2 years ago I had what's classified as severe covid...I am still here...seems like all the other varients might have passed over me or were repelled so fast by my natural immune system I didnt know.. x fingers for the future 😊

Welcome all, to a nearly mask free Ireland..and I hope the rest of you join us when you feel ok to do likewise. Rock n Roll 2022.

    Looking foward to your smiles
