IL-76 currently approaching Crimea at 30,000. It underflew a Global Hawk. Hopefully its position was relayed to anti-aircraft assets on the ground. Possibly a HALO drop?

It just shows what a sh1tshow fifa is that the Russians are even included at this stage. A corrupt horrible organisation.

Stanislav Petrov, known as the man that saved the world, in my eyes one of the greatest people in history. Another hugely brave man that was 1 of 3 people needed to turn the key and refused to launch during the Kennedy era standoff at Cuba despite ordersnto do so

Poland and the Polish Govt have really helped set the bench mark for Western Europe in this.

Good to see the west getting as close as they can to this, militarily, without setting foot on the ground

Sadly your right. A massive loss of lives on both sides, both military and civilian all because of a power hungry asshole.

Hopefully he's taken out shortly and someone else can call a halt to this, there can never be a end to this now with him in power.

Since you've come into this thread all you've done is bang on about how weak Biden is. With no substance, and when someone posts something that provides context into how past Presidencies (Especially Trump) have led to some of the diplomatic issues your response is "Don't click on them!"

    Wise up.

Anyone recommend a good charity working on the ground to help those In Ukraine, very wary of some charities after all the scandals and big salaries. But would like to try give something.

True but there seems to be a lot of background work on getting "supplies" into Ukraine and the UK have offered to look after logistics. One thing the slowing of the Russians has done is give countries time to get things rolling.

They should send 1000s of Rocket Propelled Grenades. Urban warfare will teach the Russians a lesson.

It looks like history is starting up again.

USAF F16 currently circling over Romania

Haven't seen any US fighter jets, only drones and tankers, in the area over the past few days looking at fr24

My personal feeling is the longer this goes on, the more chance the west will get involved militarily. There has not been a wore like this in decades, and the involvement of social media is bringing the horrors involved right to everyones doorstep. The courage and bravery of the people of Ukraine, the death and destruvtion involved, the growing outrage and pressure could force the hands of those and to stop it. This could be a pivotal moment in human history.

In other words, "if not now, then when".

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.

That embassy wool be lucky if it’s not torched today. Must be some security around it.

It is and it isn't Woody. You have a leader of a nuclear capable power prepared to go full nuts in plain sight, invade another nation* and hint at the nuclear armageddon at his fingertips if any other players get directly involved and things are very 'hot' at the moment. It's at times like this where just one 'mishap' like a NATO aircraft being shot down or shooting down a Russian aircraft could rapidly escalate to all out war across all parties. That's when Putin, who is acting like someone with little to lose, could go end of the world stuff.

*for the Putin apologists out there. If he'd 'done a Crimea' and taken the Russian separatist areas of Ukraine that he claims were sites of 'genocide' and anti Russian aggression and 'western/NATO encroachment', then it would be bad, but somewhat justifiable at home and even abroad and a sort of peace might have been in play quickly enough. But no, he went full warmonger and is trying to take the entire nation. That's scary in the what the fcuk was he and his cronies thinking scary.

The "when" will be if a NATO member is attacked. This is deeply unlikely.

Moving NATO troops into the Ukraine now to fight Russia opens the possibility of a nuclear retaliation.

NATO will not and rightly so.

You would imagine that there has to be multiple chances on any given day to drop a bit of novichok in Putins coffee.

It’s the real stomach to fight for something you really believe in that drives an army. I don’t see that here. I see it in the Ukrainians in spades

Obviously, I have no idea of Putin's mental health, but I feel like he's been given an out by those saying he's unstable.

Has he been unstable since 2014 when he originally invaded Ukraine and took Crimea and the Donbas.

Was he insane several years before that when he started imprisoning political opponents or disappeared protesters, or pushing people out of windows or poisoning families abroad.

I fear the Vladimir we've witnessed on screen the last few days is the real Putin.

I don't want to hear he's been dispatched with a bullet by one of his own. I want him in the Hague with all of his cronies getting the punishment he deserves.

Don't know how this happens, but I hope the good people of Russia find their voice and push him from office. I pray the people of Ukraine hold out as long as possible. And the international community stand with Ukraine, no matter what it takes.
