Possible to unlock a UK mobile for an Irish sim?

Hi
I have a Samsung S10 that was locked to EE network in the UK.
I have the IMEI number and the unlock code for the device.
I followed their (EE's) steps to unlock it and tried inserting an Irish Tesco mobile sim.
When I did the option to press the 'enter unlock code' was greyed out as it seems it's not accepting of / compatible with the sim so I couldn't go any further.
Could a mobile phone shop get it unlocked for me so I can use it here or is it possible even?

Non Network phone shop may be able to unlock. You should have a look on Ebay for Samsung S10 unlock codes, some will offer a service to unlock.

Go to your local Chinese phone repair shop. It depends on exact make and model and software version
