I was very brave with dat camera. But overall the people looking after you generally wanted you to have a good impression of the place. One of the guys I got talking to, who was a “journalist” with a Kyiv “newspaper” said he believed a revolution towards democracy wouldn’t be too long in coming. Happened (Gorbachev) about 10 years later.

To fly from Moscow to Simferopol I flew on board one of the very last flights of the Tupolev 104A, which was really a converted bomber. More like a train on board.

Curtains, enormous space between seats, tables, wooden toilet seat. Flew low and navigator sat by cone window as they followed a railway track.

They've no reason to join this this as Ukraine not a member, I think after this , they never will be . I was wrong re Putin going further than the two regions but surely even he wouldn't be foolish enough to invade or fire upon a nato Member.
