I don't understand this notion that the producers shouldn't be involved. They're literally involved in everything.

It's not like what he said was 'in confidence'. People are going on like it was priest revealing all from a church confession.

If you were a dater on the show, you'd appreciate being told if the person you're about to commit extra time to and likely pursue, had moments before said he had absolutely no interest in you. This nonsense that "they shouldn't have shown it" is just that; nonsense.

Just saw the updates from last night’s daters and it appears that what was alluded you on Twitter isn’t true regarding a return date.

Aaron with those dodgy teeth..are they dentures or what? And that accent. I am not sure I would trust him as a peacekeeper..."its school with guns" yeah stick to being a soldier if that snippet not music is anything to go by. The girl from Waterford was really pretty, seemed pretty driven. Surprised he didn't fancy a second date...she was right with the Fboy thing..dickhead move making her go first.

Margaret seemed sound. But Jesus the top ...boobs a gogo...i am not prude but jaysus.. I suppose you might as well show them off if you paid for them. Need to ease off the fake tan. That is some weight loss fair play. Shane from Fermanagh didn't lack confidence anyway. Charmer. Cute. Messer in a good way. Both nice people I thought. Nice they saw each other again.

Brenda looked insane for 73 lovely bubbly personality...psychic medium...nonsense...Her toy boy Gerry...initially I thought why did they pair these two...but they had a lot in common. She had not a notion of a romance with him.

Chocolate milk guy...it is nice in fairness, not sure you would get it in most pups though. Miriam was bubbly and good fun. Definite chemistry both fun glad they went on another date.

    Exactly ...the state of him.

He went on for some kind of fame/notoriety...hawking his "gig" on his instagram

From a ratings point of view last night was a success but honestly I found it a little uncomfortable. Especially reading some comments on Twitter.

    100%.

She came across quite well. Clearly, very attractive and evidently quite intelligent. She can and will easily find a well mannered, good looking guy who is going places in life.

I remember when I was their age that you sometimes find very good looking country girls who give fellas like Aaron a chance. I’m not sure why, but it could be that archetypal Irish fear of saying no. On the other hand, Dublin girls are far more assertive. Most of the south side UCD or Trinity girls wouldn’t even entertain somebody like Aaron and wouldn’t be shy about letting him know that.

I wouldn’t have copped it until you said it. Hughie posted on Instagram that he is returning for another date…wondering if it’s with him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,411 ✭✭✭Princess Calla

Did they not have a date together last time?

I don't have Twitter or Instagram so once the show is over I pretty much forget ....but that dude stuck in my head for all the wrong reasons 🙈

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,249 ✭✭✭joeguevara

I didn’t think the date went particularly well. It did look like he thought she was going to say no and didn’t want to lose face. He should have said it first.

Does anyone remember the vegan guy who said no because he thought his date wasn’t interested. The look of shock when she said he would….the funniest line ever was when he said ‘Jesus she must have been on some 5hit dates’ https://youtu.be/Aa9FLrD6Abk

I think the country girls can be somewhat naive while the Dublin ones are more streetwise.

Hughie had a date with a Scottish hair dresser. Hughie was lovely, funny and friendly but his date came across pretty harsh. But from what I remember he apologised after.

From what I remember about the guy coming back for a third date..the first time he said no…second time date appeared to go well but his match said no spark.

I remember when first dates started in the U.K. the concept was daters returned time after time. Never seen anyone come back for a third time here.

Did he let his date pay the first time then said no?....I think that's what turned me off him....so I was secretly delighted when second date turned him down. Though I do think he was nice enough.

Yeah Hughie's date arrived with the entourage and wasn't impressed when Hughie was more of a prima Donna than he was.

If it is the two of them paired together it will make for a fun date.

I think people are being harsh on the army guy. A lot of lads are foolish and naive at that age but thankfully (for myself anyway), it was before the proliferation of social media. We grow out of it at different times, he clearly has a few years maturing left and a lot to learn about life. Don't think he's a bad person though. His date was stunning and came out looking the better person so he didn't harm anyone, bar himself. They were both fairly drunk at the end by the looks of it too.

I'd give most lads a fair hearing....a bit of leeway......but regards that Muppet......nope, can't see ANY redeeming features. He was an out&out asshole, thought he was Eminem& gods gift to women all rolled into one. Definetely not the brightest bulb in the box nor a good advertisement for defence forces either.

For the last two weeks when the guys went to the toilet (the Young dj and last nights rapper) their dates checked them out on Instagram. Was wondering how they knew their username. Be so cringe if someone told me to check them out on Instagram during a date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,411 ✭✭✭Princess Calla

I suspect "check out my insta page x" flows into conversation with young people today.....I've nothing to back that up mind.

I regularly go to my mates open mic night in our local and every week there are new outstanding musicians. Before it’s their slot sometimes chat away if they are on my table. I can’t remember once them mentioning insta etc…now I wonder do they think someone in their early 40s won’t know what it is.

But even stranger on the show where it’s so short (1.5 hours) to chat away, bring up about insta, tell them to take out their phone to type username in and tell them to look at it while they are in the toilet…I’d crack up laughing (history of that) and say battery is fcucked.

The programs edited and we can all have opinions but I wouldn’t think the show is representation of the individual. Ultimately they are all single for a reason the shows pretty limited in addressing that topic.

Personally I've zero interest in seeing that lad coming back for a third date, from what I remember he was a charisma vacuum.

I can only speak for myself but when I applied to go on the show it was meet the one as corny as it sounds. The night before it starts to become real and you have loads of different scenarios running through my head. Always knew that if it wasn’t a match I’d go first, hoping that the other person was in agreement.

Looking back on last night, Kirsty (who came across great) said that Aran could be good for a date or two but not a relationship.

After the date, my date went for her one on one first. It’s not really anything you can prepare for and your mind is racing. It’s a surreal feeling knowing how the date went is being discussed and scrutinised in the next room. Going in second is harder because you know that the producer knows the other person’s decision. It is human nature to second guess what certain questions mean or why they are being asked. You have to be honest and you can’t bullsh1t. If you are honest and respectful you have nothing to worry about.

I think some of the backlash has been too much. At the end of the day these are real people, with no media training, first date nerves and then facing questions before you have even processed your thoughts. I’m sure we have all been on dates and immediately after not knowing how you felt. Trying to figure out if they were your type or would you go on another date. Making a snap decision to yourself that not your type. Getting a message from the person saying be good to meet again. Because of that and a little more thought saying ‘why not’ (not speaking from experience as I rarely date, don’t know why, but from listening to my friends both male and female). That’s pretty much what happened here. Only difference is, it was called out. I never thought about how difficult it is to be rushed through that post date interview. If you think about it, most dates who said yes, don’t meet up after and it said that they decided to be better off as friends.

No denying he should have gone first. But apart from that he was grand. I got some things said that really hurt which really surprised me.

Ya probably agree with you, confident lad and of course people will say he was too confident and cocky. We only got to see a glimpse of him anyway, she is very pretty and was not expecting to be turned down.

Aaron definitely acted the bollocks but I also have to say they were one of the worst matched couples I have ever seen on the show. They had literally nothing in common.

I think the producers did do Aaron dirty from the word go. Setting him up with a classy chick way out of his league was always bound to show him up as a tosser. Had they set him up with some blonde hunzo from Santry, they would more likely have clicked.

Also if Aaron had any sense and played it a little cool, I reckon she was up for the ride at least (good for one or two dates but not a relationship). But because he was an immature tosser in the reveal at the end, she lost all interest. If you aren't interested, be a grown adult and own the situation. "Ladies first" made me lose all respect for him completely. He deserved to be called out by the producers especially as they knew he was only on as a plug for himself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,249 ✭✭✭joeguevara

Which would have been worse…do what he did or as you say ‘play it cool as she was up for the r1de’. I don’t think it came across at all like that in any case.

Never heard the phrase blonde Hunzo from Santry before but it looked like they did click and she liked him.

Just watched it. What an absolute tool that Aaron lad was. Went on about himself all date, and iff date he just went on about how great he was, about scoring burds and how great his music was. His rap was terrible, all I understood from it was something about scoring with a burd at the end. When he met his date and she asked what he did, I couldn’t even understand his reply. Did he say ‘army guy’?? She was a stunner too, beautiful, intelligent and a bit cultured. When he said the army was school with guns and how going to Syria or the other place would be a good buzz or whatever he said, it makes me worry about the calibre of young people being recruited in Irish army.

That tictac teeth army eejit was just on it for social media views. He was on the "talking bollox" podcast before, I knew before the episode started that he was going to be exactly the man (boy?) That he portrayed himself to be.

I'm willing to bet that his mode of transport to and from the restaurant was via electric scooter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,658 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

I doubt he had far to travel. He is probably from sherif street or some other place in north inner city.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 325 ✭✭BobbyMalone

I got the impression she was impressed at his follower count on whatever social media thing she checked when he was in the jacks. She seemed incredibly unimpressed with him before that, but perked up visibly after. Maybe it was just how it was pieced together by the production team.

Whatever about how much of a tosser he was, I really don't get people that young with dentures or whatever they are. Is it that they have really bad teeth to start with or just a fashion thing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,658 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

I am curious about the teeth too. At first I thought they were natural just becos he is so young, but guess they not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 325 ✭✭BobbyMalone

I'd understand it if they had serious problems with their teeth in the first place (I think there was a taxi driver on First Dates Ireland previously and he got his teeth done) but these are young people getting them. Veneers, I think they're called. The process involved (filing down your original teeth and getting ceramic implants) just doesn't make sense to me: looks completely fake and stands out a mile.

He had 14,200 followers at the time of filming. Anyone check how many he has now?

    Anyone know his account?
