Sewer soide - Joe having a great day today. Loving it.

Keep in mind while this poor lady is speaking about the tragic death of her son that Joe is reading abut and watching out for a government announcement so he can be the one to announce it first. She is just background noise as far as he is concerned.

Was she out of work before her son's death? or because of her son's death?

It's called Jobseekers, cawlur. The clue is in the name.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,829 ✭✭✭✭Dan Jaman

He's making those odd little noises again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,530 ✭✭✭PieOhMy

Pretending to listen noises while he's looking at his eyepad

She should just sign off the live register and apply for supplementary welfare until she well enough to go back to work.

In fairness to the staff, the amount of excuses and stories they hear every day, they probably have to keep a hardened front. Unfortunately there probably have been a lot of bullshitters who have ruined it for genuine cases like this caller.

Fill the forms out, answer the questions and apply for the odd job online and keep records of it.

On the next phone call appointment, there will be an option to reschedule the phone call for whatever reason a scheduled date doesn't suit.

It's kind of faux-therapist noises, fake sympathy / empathy.

They should have her on illness benefit.

again not sure we are getting all the facts. Had a friends with some mental issues who had no trouble from the social welfare with a doctors letter.

would they not just leave the poor woman alone

this state is a very cruel thing when you go up against it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,301 ✭✭✭✭Losty Dublin

If she is unwell medically then she should apply for Illness Benefit. She would have been told this from the get go at the INTREO office alone because it keeps her in a payment.

It’s actually the name of de road he grew up on in Ballyer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

I had to take a call there so missed the last half an hour or so - what did I miss?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,191 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Shocking this , I'm a little baffled , if this lady has worked all her life , surely she has enough contributions to get illness benefit, its clear there's enough evidence , doctor, two separate counselling organisations and obviously her sons death.

luckily she didn't hear him as that would've been pretty awkward

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,771 ✭✭✭archfi

Sounds like she hasn't been given advice at all. Surprised at that as I'm sure my local intreo office advise if you are entitled to a different payment. They often have posters urging people to enquire.

And this would be one of those cases.

I understand completely she is unable to actually jobseek becasue of what horribly happened to her son.

It's quite extraordinary the lack of empathy shown , I get there's chancers out there but mother of God there is clearly a mental health crisis at the moment, are DEASP not trained in this . I sense this lady is genuine and it's quite disgraceful her treatment.

I live beside numerous people on SW for years and doing odd jobs, these are the people DEASP should be hounding .

I don't think you can call a spade a spade anymore in today's wurdled.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,301 ✭✭✭✭Losty Dublin

Even if she hads't credits then a Nil Rate may apply but a supplementary welfare may issue here; that way a stamp record exists and she gets something.

Either way the last person to offer her adequate advice is the buffoon of a presenter

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,829 ✭✭✭✭Dan Jaman

    Tears already.

    <edit>

Jeez, it sounds like she's got the rough end of the stick all round.
