Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is it worth sticking with Billions?

Disclaimer: I know there's a Billions thread already but it's full of spoilers.

I'm halfway through Season 1 of Billions and it's fine. After Succession wrapped I was looking for something to scratch that itch and it looked like it would do nicely... But it's no Succession. It's very soapy and lacks any subtlety whatsoever from I've seen so far.

But these shows often improve after the first season so I'm just wondering whether it's worth sticking with it or should I could my losses at this stage? 6 seasons is a big commitment.

It can be hit and miss. Some seasons are enjoyable and others not so.

Season 1 and 2 are good and worth watching but it does get very samey after that.

Succession is on a totally different league so not a fair comparison really.

Loved the first 5 seasons of Billions myself

However, with Damian Lewis's completely understandable decision to quit the show for personal reasons at the end of season 5, continuing on with Mike Prince vs Chuck seems like a mistake as the entire show was built around Axe (much like House of Cards WAS Spacey) and without him, it's just failing badly IMO.

I'm giving it to the mid-season point myself (2 more episodes) but unless it dramatically improves, I don't think I'll be sticking with it.

I got to the end of Series 5, but 5 was a struggle.

    No interest in season 6.

Yeah I was the same. The show became too wrapped up in itself. Just watch Seasons 1&2, skip the rest.

I’m only aware of the basic concept - Giamatti trying to prosecute Lewis for some illegal activities and the pair try to outmanoeuvr each other - but five seasons season of it seems a bit much?

session 6 is extremely slow, but 5 was good, theyre gonna struggle to move on after it...

    I quit after season 4.

Cheers it sounds like it's worth sticking with for the 1st two seasons anyway. Problem with coming to shows like this late is that knowing there are 6 seasons removes a lot of tension in terms of anything happening to the major characters.

It should have wrapped up after probably 3 seasons. Its very poor the last few years ,just rinse and.repeat.

Even if Lewis was still involved it wouldn't be up to much.

Season 6 without Lewis is something I will avoid. Even though the last 2 or 3 seasons weren't great Lewis made it watchable at least.
