Anyone know how I go about removing the electric meter?

It's in a bad spot, right at the end of my stairs. New fuse board has been wired up to it.

Will the ESB remove it when installing new smart meters? Planning on doing some work in the house so could do with it moved or gone altogether if smart meter installed

Where would the new meter be going?

Had the house rewired last year and got the meter moved at the same time. Process for moving the meter was once the new cabinet was installed I called the ESB to schedule a date for the meter move, they came out and inspected the cabinet removed the old meter and installed the new meter in the new cabinet.

Btw how much did they charge to move meter and install new one?

Did they required a RECI cert as well before they move it, I would have thought they would have required one?

Yes cert was require, electrican sent cert to Safe Electric who sent it to the ESB.

The ESB then come out move meter and make the new connection.

How long did it take between ESB receiving Cert and coming out? We're being quoted 6-8 weeks which is playing havoc with our move back into the house. Very annoying as Builders and Spark were told this in January when we asked to move the meter and no-one (including our own project manager) flagged it as a potential delay.

We were told 6 to 8 weeks as well and it took a little over 6 weeks for them to turn up the first time, there was an issue with the meter box on there first visit and then we had another 4 weeks wait. So ensure that things are right as the ESB won't wait around for them to be fixed.

Anyone know how I go about removing the electric meter?
