Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Big disappointment so far

    The production is atrocious.

Despite that though, I really enjoyed that game between Painter and O'Shea. Good quality and very close match. A pity I had to use pen and paper to keep score though.

Had a look at John Boy Walton and Les Wallace there at lunchtime, standard not great, but thoroughly entertaining

I expect it'll be a breeze for Phil Taylor

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Wallace played much better than I thought he would, he got better as the game went on. Dave Prins playing well here against Paul Lim.

Obviously the standard isn't great but it's still entertaining stuff. The production has also improved today although it couldn't have gotten any worse.

I can see Taylor winning 9-0 in legs against Manley later

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,128 ✭✭✭Fattybojangles

The production is an absolute disgrace like it is being filmed on a potato and no scoreboard totally fcuked it made it almost unwatchable but having said all that I'll 100% tune in to watch Taylor later.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Larry Butler throwing some darts, 98 average so far. Warriner-Little not troubling him

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,128 ✭✭✭Fattybojangles

To be fair the production seems better today I've just managed to sneak it on in work.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Butler played some very good stuff there. Could definitely go on a good run if he can keep that standard up. AWL was shocking though, claiming he has an injury.

Is it terrible looking on BT Sport too, are all broadcasters using same feed?

  • Registered Users Posts: 942 ✭✭✭Murdoc90

Sad to see Jenkins without the tache :-(

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Terry Jenkins looked good. 85 average despite some missed doubles. I would love if he could win this!

Watching this makes you appreciate how slick the Sky production is.

In saying that I'm enjoying it thoroughly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Standard is decent. Just shows how the class doesn't leave some of the players, Painter is looking good here.

Watching it on BT, it looks better tonight

Painter looked class. Really good darts and he could push Taylor in the quarters.

Feed just gone down on Virgin

    Said I'd give it 10/ 15 minutes........now I'm hooked.....very enjoyable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

I like the way the averages are displayed on screen the whole time, it's a nice addition

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Is Howson the kirk sheppard of this tournament? 😁

  • Registered Users Posts: 439 ✭✭paddythere

Warriner should never be allowed to commentate on darts again after that performance😂. I would have thrashed him myself

    Adams 136 finish 150 and now 157.Brilliant

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,837 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Adams really good since start of 2nd set onwards

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

153 to win it for Adams

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,540 ✭✭✭Ginger83

    Martin Adams take a bow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Some display of finishing from Adams

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Bobby George and Ray Stubbs look like they went clothes shopping in Penneys on the way to the studio and threw them straight on before going on air.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Very surprised that Manley is younger than Taylor, assumed he was 5 years older at least

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,513 ✭✭✭shockframe

That was incredible from Adams. Class act.

Brilliant to have Ray Stubbs on board for this. One of the great darts presenters.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Taylor very poor so far. I'm surprised.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,837 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Awful here - have a feeling that Taylor A) no motivation but more importantly B) will raise standards against a better opponent

Still like Manley’s throw - always enjoyed it

It is great Craic though.......... Bobby George with half the stock out of cash converters on his wrist/ fingers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,837 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Martin Adams won’t mind who wins this Deller vs Butler match. Both poor although Deller had a few good clutch doubles

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,765 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

Imagine the state of the board if Deller was playing Simon Whitlock!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,837 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Taylor continuing yesterday’s poor form so far. Painter well on his way

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Oh how I love watching Taylor lose darts matches!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Missed the game tonight but thought Taylor looked dreadful against Manley yesterday. Delighted for Painter

Yep.......its more of a case of 'lack of' Power Taylor nowadays ....buy hey, what a fantastic career....brilliant player. With these seniors tournament ( in golf, snooker, darts, tennis) you can't expect the 'numbers' to be anywhere near the same as these guys had in the 80s & 90's

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Doesn't anyone else think Taylor will just pack it in and not bother playing the other tournaments? I doubt he wants to show up and get beaten by players he used to hammer.

Unless he intends to practice like mad.

  • Registered Users Posts: 392 ✭✭passinginterest

You could see the improvement in Taylor from the Manley game and his average was creeping up through the Painter game. He went from 70s to mid 80s and was on the rise. I’ve no doubt he’ll start practicing now and he’ll be back with a view to winning this next year and a few others along the way. There’s been a clear advantage to the players who kept playing competitive darts for the most part.

I can see the standard rising pretty rapidly, especially if it’s open to more qualifiers. The money seems half decent and the limited number of events will probably appeal to a lot of players winding down on the PDC tour where the intensity and travel demands are huge now.

Apparently, he does intend to practice like mad - and has just had a new board delivered to his house...

Good start to this semi final. You can see how much it means to both players.

  • Registered Users Posts: 392 ✭✭passinginterest

That’s been the best part about the tournament for me. The worry was it would be a glorified exhibition, but you could see every player really wanted to win and there’s genuine nerves and tension.

Two lads averaging high 80’s here, good standard and the averages really only being pulled down a bit by the odd long leg where the tension has hit on the doubles. Really entertaining and looking at the crowds too it looks like there’s real potential for a seniors tour of sorts.

    Thornton to win this?

No doubt about it..........the odds were terrible but I placed a €50 bet on a weird double.......thornton to Win and HIGEHEST CHECKOUT
