I got a taxi this evening and the driver was watching YouTube videos and flicking between videos while driving me.

What do we think of this?

If I wish to take this further do I go to the NTA?

Should have tried to record him and then made a complaint or just complain to him and tell him to keep his eyes on the road and stop being a dick

    Any good videos?

Seriously, yes, a complaint to the NTA, Assuming you have given details.

I don’t get why you wouldn’t tell him in real-time to stop

Typically we Irish really only complain retrospectively and usually through social media.

Next time this happens record it, get out. Call traffic watch.

Ive had some similar experiences, some drivers looking for the next song to listen to or answering calls in the middle of driving. Grates on me but thankfully I dont have to travel that long. Would be telling them to cop on if it was a long journey. Taxi drivers have been playing the poor mouth over the last 24 months but as far as I can see, there isnt nearly enough of them around. Cant get a taxi unless your a hot young female at the weekend these days. They always want cash to top it off. F**kers, all should be accepting card by now.

    Definitely report it - I reported similar a couple of years back and they took it fairly seriously;

Did he have the phone in his hand or mounted on the dash?

'Taxi drivers have been playing the poor mouth over the last 24 months ..'

Everyone has been working from home,no air travel ,no pub work,no club work,no restaurant work.

Yes,I can see how we'd need to pretend it was bad out there.

Unless you got the driver's name, taxi number or registration plate, I think at this stage there is little use in reporting it.

It would definitely be something to say while in the car as well unless you are feeling under threat. If you do feel under threat, then it is better to ask the driver to pull over and drop you off early. Then you can go ahead and report it (as long as you have the details above) and follow it through.

They did. They called him in, interviewed him, and gave him a warning, which was fair enough in my book.

If you happen to have the same driver, hopefully he'll get more than a warning this time.

NTA have no role in traffic offences, so don't mention those in your complaint. Complain about the unsafe behaviour of the driver.

I was just wondering how they'd take things with it being your word against his and were they pretending to be all formal about it to fob you off.

Unrelated, we used get a taxi years ago off a guy called Spencer and he used have Frank Spencer playing all the time on his windscreen.

Was he watching videos on Learning To Drive?

I had video evidence from my helmetcam on that occasion. But they will listen to all complaints.
