Changing after 1 year

Is changing so soon something to avoid. Know someone that bought a 211 last year and now has seen something he likes better

Totally depends on the motor.......we're living in strange times.........top quality nearly new secondhands are at a premium

It's a double edged sword. You might get strong money for your used car but you will also pay top dollar for a brand new car too with very little discount on them unless they are undesirable.

A lot depends on what you're trading 'from' & 'to ....... in this ( weird/inverted) market you'll never ever get a better deal than if you're going for a straight like-for-like trade. Coming from a 211 to 221 same model& spec at the moment is a dream market. Obviously, this doesn't apply to OP.

In the current market probably won't be too bad but cars are huge drains on finances full stop. Buying a new car at say 30k is 30k whichever way you cut it.

We had a customer that changed her car every January. Bought the same make and model every year, it cost her about 5k a year to change

Not anymore. After a year, used cars are often worth more or very close to a new one these days. New cars are a fixed price and there's not many of them...

That's the point.......at the moment we're living in strange times re car prices due to a lot of uncontrollable factors ( nationally AND globally). The difference in price between new & 'as new' ( 2000/2021) models has never been narrower

Well, it's not valid in my case.

I bought a new Tucson 2021 for 44.5k.

Was thinking to upgrade and dealer quoted 37.5K for my Tucson.

So that's 7K loss in under 12 months 😕

I am not sure what's going wrong here?

If I went to garage to buy your trade in ,I bet I would have to pay wel over 40 k The reality is main dealers are selling fewer cars but are making more of a margin on every one they sell so have the same or extra profit at end of year .

See.....this is what I mean....the current market is "inverted". Mrs mc carthy got the Peugeot 3008GT in feb2021.....a beautiful car/ delighted with it. Middle of Jan the Peugeot dealer rings her ( unsolicited) & asks her if she'd be interested in coming up to 2022. She says " nope, love this car....thanks".......so he causally threw in a number of 4K ( which I thought was fantastic). Next thing, he rings back in afternoon with a figure of 3.5K ...... she was reluctant but I'm thinking 'GO FOR IT' ........so, long story short, there's a 221 reg beauty in the drive for 3.5k. Now, I know for a fact, her car ( 211) was GONE of the Peugeot garage by close of business that same day

There’s a 3 month wait to get one in Sol spec so he’s going to wait until later in the year and order for January 2023
