My trick idea to buy tobaco on EU flight .. will it work?

I will be flying to Copenhagen in few weeks. This is my idea.

To buy cheap flight to UK even one way. You can get for €5 even!! This is to be at same time approx as flight depart to Denmark.

Check in online for this flight as well as my flight to Denmark. Flight can even be in fake names, they only check ticket and not ID when purchasing cigars when I flied to Kiev few years ago.

When I’m in the departure buildings I can buy tobacco with my UK ticket and hop into my Denmark flight.

Will it work?

It will work, in the same was as throwing stones at a car will work, but you had to use a credit card to purchase the flight, so the fake name won't stop them finding you.

Yes, but the airline from the UK flight might get upset when someone who checks in, does not fly and investigate.

And if both flights were with the same airline...

Would there not be an issue whereby you check in, go into departures and then don't show up at the gate for your flight to UK, The crew at the gate will know that you've gone through into the departures and should be expecting you?

I will only scan the Denmark pass. Uk one will not be scan at security.

So my questions … will it work in duty frees if checked in online but not scanned at security

I can’t see why it wouldn’t work. People don’t turn up for flights every day. There’s no CSI:Airport checking out what happened to them.

Worth a try but as far as I know you need to have used the ticket to pass through in to the barriers at the secure zone for it to then become valid in duty free. It will be near impossible to use both when going through as they are normally supervised and you would need to be sure your actual flight ticket gets validated or you will have problems at the gate boarding.

Just a heads up, the retail price of cigarettes and cigars in shops in Spain is cheaper than the price in duty free in Dublin Airport, as they are within the EU the 200 cigarette duty free limit doesn't apply.

Why don't you just go to the airport. Get there early and go through. Go to the departure bar and look/listen around for someone who could be flying outside of the EU.....Norway, long-haul whatever. Strike up a conversation and then ask them to use their boarding pass to buy you a few cartons in the Duty Free shop. Give them the money and buy them a couple of pints. Easy-peezy lemon squeezy. Done this a few times myself.

200 cigs retail in Ireland is 146 euros. In Holland it's 82 euros. In Amsterdam dury free it's about 50. Well worth the couple of pints for that savings.
