Cow uterus infection/Inflammation help please

Hi,

My brothers cow, was in calf and dew to calf next week, she wasn't herself and the vet induced her to calf, she was getting pain to calf but the calf wasn't able to be calved.

The vet had to do a C section on her and then noticed her uterus was badly infected. The calf was ok, the vet sprayed antibiotics into the uterus and stitched her up.

She isnt eating much. My question is, has anyone had this situation and how would you know in advance that a cow has this as the vet said she could have it for a year or 2. She didnt have a calf last year.

What to give to her to help her improve and can she come in calf again after this?

The vet should have given her some antibiotics and pain relief and left some to inject the cow for a few days after the section. I definitely wouldn’t be keeping that cow for another year and trying to get her back in calf, she should have been sold last year after having no calf. She’ll be lucky to survive this by the sounds of things.

Yeah she is on antibiotics and is comfortable doing ok. Just wondering what u help her eating wise or tonic to build her up. Have u have a cow with this before?

I seen a few sections alrite, it’s surprising that that calf survived with the cow having an infection. I’d give her some Ivy and nice hay if you have it.
