Jenny moving from her drive time slot to a late night slot. Today was he last show. No mention of whole replace her or who else might move

It was reported a few weeks ago that the two Johnnies are getting 2fm drive. Laura Fox, who was filling for Louise Macsharrys weekend morning slot after she was dropped, is now confirmed to be keeping the slot. Afric O'Connell was moved from weekend breakfast to weekend late afternoon since after Christmas .

Looking at the schedule, it looks like Jenny will be replacing Dan Hegarty, who will then be down to one show on Sunday, unless he is being moved around as well at the expense of somebody else.

Neither am I, but not every programme on 2FM has to accommodate to my tastes so I wish her the best of success in her new slot.

Jenny has been on Drive for 7 years. surely the longest running presenter slot on the station?. This is certainly a demotion for Jenny going from a 3 hour drive slot to a show after 10pm and will probably be voicetracked.

Listeners will only be a few thousand.

What about Dan? ..will he be moved to Sun to Thur after midnight? The show is already on 2XM. He is a permanent member of RTE staff.

Probably midnight to 2 for Tall Dan, sure he was on 1am till 4am for a time when Chris and Ciara first arrived. At 43, Jenny Greene is probably the oldest presenter to ever be assigned to a late show on 2fm for the first time ?

The article was free to read earlier this morning...that's 5 minutes I'll never get back.

She just spoke about how badly they treated her(in her opinion) - her agent contacted her to say that her contract was not being renewed. Kinda funny how this article comes out the same time 2FM announce that Laura Fox is getting the weekend spot permanently.

They got rid of an actual DJ for the two Johnnies!,that is some crazy decision and I can’t see it going well for them,Jenny was brilliant in the afternoons she’s one of the best in the country.

why capital radio and where are you getting the 65.56 million figure from? it's unlikely it's worth even 6 million.

capital isn't anything to shout about anyway, just another generic pop station.

unlikely to happen anyway as apart from the transmission network which it would be moronic to sell rather then rent out or use for another rte service, there isn't really anything to sell or is worth selling.

Interestingly, all three of them started with pirate radio. I only discovered that about Tracey Clifford very recently. I read an article where she mentioned she was on a pirate operating from Tony Langford's bedroom! Any idea what that pirate was called?

It comes as no surprise that most (probably all) of the celebrity-type presenters have no background in radio, certainly not pirate radio.

So who else is still on 2FM that came from the pirates? Dave Fanning, Cormac Battle and Mr. Spring. Is that it?

I don't think that's actually happening. I think it will be Mr. Stephen Byrne driving us home. Or maybe Chris and Ciara. Basically, somebody already with 2FM. 2Js have an exclusive contract with Spotify anyway so I doubt they would be on RTÉ.

I remember a rumour that Dermot Whelan was going to be part of Breakfast Republic and one in 2016 that Ray Foley was getting a weekend slot. Neither was true in the end so I'm taking the 2 Johnnies rumour with a bit of salt.

My guess is that there will be an number of changes to the schedule, it wouldn't surprise me if Stephen Byrne and Tara Kumar are doing a double header, perhaps at lunchtime, this would also fee up the 8-10pm slot for Dan Hergarty?

Dan Hegarty's nightly 2FM show is also on digital station 2XM during the day...I wonder will this 2XM show remain there only?

But will he stay with 2FM?

Is it a strategic decision to allow it to continue losing money. A private operator would cut costs(not that costs for a radio station should be high), reduce the rate card for advertising and shrink to profit. Maybe they don't want to lose advertising spend/revenue to Radio1 and TV.

At the same time they can argue...shure it is not worth privatising as it has not made a profit in over a decade.

When Private stations like Classic hits and Sunshine 106.8 were losing money, they dramatically reduced the amount of djs on the schedule, and had the ones they kept on doing 4 and 5 hour shows per day but 2fm didn't take any such action, infant 2fm have more presenters on their schedule today then they did 20 years ago.

The only issues with Jenny was that she was having to play a fair bit of playlisted crap, and that she was followed by a load of peoplemjinber jabbering about various sports. It's a pity RTE didn't have a seperate radio station for talking to keep 2fm for music.

I would say that it is not in RTE's corporate interest to reform 2FM at the moment and hide it as an asset which has "value" to somebody who knows their @rse from their elbow.
