How to report danger driver

I was join M1 to northway at Santry. This piece is 80 km/h. As I join I check careful my mirror. Lurry was at approx 75 kph behind and I was 80.

On the moment I start to indicate to cross the broked white line truck speed up and flash aggressively.

He speed up and slow at same as me to prevent me join. Soon as I join on front he go mad.

Beep, flash and follow close to my behind. Then he blast loud horn and overtaking left on hard shoulders and speed away onto m50.

How do report this maniac to Gardas? He might have camera and I didn’t and he try to lie to Garda and blame me.

I didn’t want to brake the limit 80 to speed up when join. Dangerous to do and not allowed. I apply for citizenship soon and don’t want to be criminal convict with penalty points.

Nothing in the moment. I don’t want to get into bad relationships with neighbours so I keep quiet. Best thing and all are happy.

I use that on-ramp frequently and because its very long, there's usually plenty of time to either get ahead of slower traffic or slow down and pull in behind faster traffic. Occasionally I encounter drivers like your lorry driver. Can't understand what they're gaining apart from causing difficulty. there's nothing to be done at the time, just stay calm and be the better person. But you were unlucky, about 90% of the time, someone will flash you to let you in.

Probably nothing to be gained by reporting it. As you say, you've no camera so no real evidence. But, recently I've spotted the speed van on that stretch a few times, so just as well you didn't try to race him. But remember the rule is when joining the motorway , YOU must give way to traffic already on the motorway. The important reason that I say this is : if something had gone wrong, you would most likely have been deemed to be in the wrong.

You have to give way to traffic on the main road and his speed on the main road is what you need to exceed or go slower, if he speeds up or slows down you need to adjust your speed to that. Sticking your indicator on means nothing. You seem to have pulled out in front of a HGV going slower than it or matching it's speed and are blaming the driver for being aggressive, your lucky all you got was lights and the horn you could have been under the truck.

1. He had right of way.

2. It is your responsibility to match the speed of the traffic on the main road and Join when is safe.

3. Cutting off a truck is never safe.

Honestly, it sounds like your caused a dangerous situation by not giving way to the road of greater importance and by pulling out infront of a faster moving HGV, a vehicle which can not slow down or maneuver as easily as you could.

I said I slowed back down when he speeding up then he slowing back down again when I was slowing … deliberately a temp to block me. Most hgv are danger drivers.

I have drive A, B and BE and D. Always hgv drivers have chips on their shoulders.

Trucks go 90 on roads like like this, speed limit at 80 or not they ride the limiter at 90 because of numerous things, you needed to be at 95 or more to join in front of an oncoming truck or slow down and let them pass, I think you went to pull out and got caught thinking as most do that trucks don't really go that fast but they do, next time be at 95 and you'll cruise past 99 percent of trucks

Well firstly, you don't know what speed that driver was going before you joined the m50. And secondly, you don't know what speed he.was doing when you joined.

Its up to you as a merging driver to drive in a way that is appropriate, whoever is on the motorway before you has the right of way.

I met one like him before. Almost empty M1 at 3am. I was doing 120 in the outside lane. Lorry driver waited until I was almost on his back bumper to pull out to overtake a car in front of him. I had to stand on the brakes. He had the audacity to give me the w*nker gesture out his window as I passed. So seeing as I wasn’t in a hurry I decided I’d prefer to do 75km when I was in front of him. He moved to the outside lane, I went up to 90km. He got back in behind me, we went back to 75km. In the meantime, the car he’d originally overtook toddles off into the distance. Kept him there for a few exits. He had his full beams on and all, my cabin was glowing like an apparition. Shaking his fist, blowing the horn. Great craic.
