Two page feature on Moxham in the digital programme for tonight's match.

His big thing is working your arse off, and he first picked up a rugby ball in January six years ago.

That explains why they're persevering with him, I'd say.

That's a fairly late start, wouldn't have had access to the greatest coaching in Larne either. Hope he makes it, he's certainly a different profile of player than our other young prospects and it's always good to have options.

Pyper is liable to do anything at any given time.

    That looked horrific 😬

That is a red card every time. The inconsistency of refereeing is awful.

Messy game, missed tackles everywhere and no penetration in attack.

Did the scarlets lad survive that?

I can see why it was mitigated down. The contact looked horrific but he was tackled coming into it and his knee hit the ground just before the hit.

Quite normal for lot of people to start at 14/15 as in start of secondary school. He was clearly identified as very talented though and been in Ulster system getting coaching through regional and provincial squads for Ulster from 15/16 as well.

Good to see more coming through like you say he's different profile to many others coming through

    Tackling an option for Ulster?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,389 ✭✭✭Locke_Lamora

Ballsy call to go for the try there, I would've taken the kick during the sin bin period.

I'd take a draw going into halftime.

Ulster have been poor and quite lucky

I know objectivity goes out the window when Robson commentates or Ferris is there and combined they’d be a nightmare. But talking about BOD and McIlroy chatting in a covid queue in Abu Dhabi and scorpions in Jamie Dornan’s new show whilst a kick for the lead for the away team goes sailing past the posts is a bit too much entirely.

See how the Scarlets cope with he wind in the second half.

Just seen the replay of the Gilroy tackle and it's absolutely a red card. There's no attempt to wrap in the tackle and it's essentially a shoulder to the head.

Peyper is a terrible referee with history of not properly punishing dangerously high hits.

One of the most dangerous tackles I've seen in a very long time

There was a significant fall in height but the level of danger and the fact that Gilroy didn't raise his arm and charged him directly to the head should have punished by a straight red

Hope the Scarlets player is ok, thats the kind of thing that can cause serious neck injury or even worse, life changing injuries

  • Absolute classic Jaco Peyper scenes. How on earth does he keep getting away with it?

In fairness, the only thing you can say about him is that he doesnt rely on the TMO. He is happy to take full responsibilty for it all.

isnt he in the aviva next week?

    God Milasinovich is gassed already

Peypar bottled that deliberate knockon right call too.

A better ref would have looked at the replay and changed their mind

Scarlets taking dozens of phases to get over the ulster line, Ulster make it look way too easy

    Double movement?

    Edit: No

TMOs are baffling these days. Can miss blatant dangerous plays and then pop up not understanding what a reach is.

Some turn of pace by Burns on the wing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Clear release? His left hand had him collared the entire time.

20.6 secs for 200 m. and 10.5 for 100 is stunning. Ulster HAVE to make him work. He's a big lad too.

    Positives

    • Thought Rea jnr was industrious again! just doesn't give up. Just shows continued games can make big difference. No idea why he only got one year.
    • What I would do to have a 30 year old Vermeulen, he looked like he was enjoying himself last night. He's definitely managing his game a bit but just does the basics perfectly and puts his fingers all over the game. There was one ruck someone was holding on to him he slapped them and you could see the fear in the scarlet player he even apologised lol!
    • Curtis also had another good game, we really are blessed at centre
    • Doak being Doak, that kick for Gilroy's try.
    • Scarlets handling, that was a get out of jail game last night

    Negatives

    • Carter can't ball carry to save his life, some of the players need to take note of the angle Vermuelen takes when carrying!
    • Milasinovich scored yes, but his ruck defence on our try line was shocking. He needs game time/match fitness and we're probably lucky Moore returned
    • Breaking the game line. There was one carry from the scrum by Vermuelen that made at least 10 metres and we pretty much lost all that momentum being forced back immediately in following phases.
    • We have no solution for a ignore the ruck fan out defence
