People are on the housing list for 10, 12 years and more.

Why don't you just get on to the housing officer in the council and ask? How are randomers on Boards supposed to know

Can you not rent another house, maybe getting employment with more salary you'd be on a better position to pay more on rent?

Well, you've decided to explain about your 3 kids, 2 autistic, 5 years on list, mould in rental, you've anxiety, wanting a house in your chosen area....

Anxiety cause of mould, so waiting on a free house ....if I'm paying for it, I'll say whatever I like!!

I can only base what I know from people waiting in Dublin, you could be very high on the list, but this could still mean years waiting.

Are you on HAP? Can you not report the issues to the council about your living situation?

It's completely understandable that you choose an area where your support network is, some people don't understand that.

you'll never get info of the council. they like to keep people in the dark.

Did they issue you with a report? I would chase this matter up because clearly this is bad for you and the children, keep calling them.

I looked at the cork cc site, they mention Cluaidh and an option called "choice based lettings"? It also mentios Cluaidh buying 63 apartments for Social Housing, maybe get onto that agency and explain your situation.

The report on that usually goes to the landlord with the relevant parts of the Standards for Private Rented Houses regs. they're deemed in breach of. They might not provide the tenant with one, but it wouldn't do any harm to ask.

I assume by Cluaidh you mean Cluid Housing Association? As an Approved Housing Body, if they're providing Social Housing in Cork City, then Cork City Council have the nomination rights to those houses. So the Council would have to nominate the OP to Cluid for him to be housed by them. Again though, might not hurt the OP to double check this.

Cork along with several other Councils let most of their properties through the CBL system currently (basically they'll only consider households who've expressed an interest in a specific house for that house when they're letting it. Rather than pulling the entire list eligible for it by area and house type and nominating the household deemed to have the greatest need). The OP presumably knows this is he's part of CBL system.
