Does Anyone Repair Speakers These Days?

Hi Folks,

Not an especially snazzy set of speakers but I took a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 121's out of storage recently and one speaker isn't working properly. They had been just fine when I put them into storage a few months previously. It'd be a shame to simply throw them out. Is there anywhere that might look at these?

I'm in North County Dublin.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread months later, but how did you get on with this? I have an old and neglected pair of speakers that I'm pretty sure could be brought back to life, and I'm starting to get a hankering to see if I can get them repaired.

I haven't actually gotten around to getting this sorted yet. I did however find a place in Swords, not that far away from me, that does speaker repair, so I'll most likely contact them in the very near future.

Thanks. I've actually seen DIY fixes for the problem that my speakers have, but I'd probably trust a repair place more than myself to get it right. The motivation isn't necessarily there either; these days I listen to most of my music on headphones.

P.S. no harm to mention that What HiFi mag were kinder to your Wharfedale Diamond 121s than you were. They thought well of them, and gave them a 5-star rating. Best of luck with the repair if you go ahead with it.

Ah I know they received good reviews and in fairness I found them to be a nice speaker but, at the end of the day they are a budget set so they have their limitations. I've been slow to get around to having them repaired as I am currently hooked up with a set of Q Acoustics 3020i and I also have a set of Boston Acoustics stashed under a display cabinet (they sound amazing). They'll get repaired, it's just not urgent.
