Bumper is loose at top Rhs on 15 Yaris , just sticking out a small bit but as decent enough car wants car to be perfect .

She asked the body shop and they said a part was broken and suggested removing bumper and glueing it back on . They said only thing is if anything happens to bumper in future bumper can no longer be removed ??

Surely no glue is so strong that bumper is permanently stuck to car.?

Surely theres some part that can be replaced inside bumper ?

Can you see where it is broken? Are all the parts/pieces there?

You could ask about plastic welding, or try fixing it yourself with epoxy resin.

A picture or two would help.

    Not your ornery onager

I think its more along the lines of the glue would be a weak repair , if you try to take off the bumper it will break again

Bumpers are usually held on with clips in places so it could be that one in broken. You could go into a Toyota garage and they might have a better suggestion than gluing. The clips should not be that expensive but labour might be.

Taxi special, in with a self tapper, if you’re really fussy cover it with a skim of filler and a quick spray over with a rattle can, sorted!!

It happens, more times than you'd like, but it does. Body shops are the king's of self tapper bodges.

There are very few body shops willing to take on that job as God knows what could be lurking beneath, the question is, how did it happen in the first place? And don't believe the, "I tipped a post in Lidl car park and it just popped out", it takes a fair belt to break bumper clips.

it might only be the clip otherwise rebuild with

epoxy resin and washers with the correct diameter hole to repair damage.

Not if it is behind the bumper and out of view. Epoxy Resin gives you something solid to work with. I last used this method on the plastic boot handle of a car where the plastic had perished and it was strong enough to bear the weight of the book when pulling from the handle
