    Who mentioned infectiousness?

The post I replied to was talking about putting hospitals under pressure. Smoking, obesity, junkies and alkies all put hospital under pressure, especially “during a pandemic”.

There’s a natural vaccine called exercise and a balanced diet. It’s been around for millennia. People are educated about the dangers of smoking, drinking and drugs. Yet they still clog up the hospitals, during the pandemic and before/after it.

Yet they don’t get your ire. I’m gonna guess you’re a smoker, drinker or allergic to exercise.

He should be stripped of all his titles for his carry-on.

We were already there, pal, when people started babbling on about footballers heart attacks and that anti vaxxer’s opinions are valid.

If that was me, with his money, I would have a Private jet on the way,Leave Quarantine and Fcuk off home and sleep in my own bed tonight.

He thought the rules were for little people. It appears, In Aus it's not.

He should be stripped of all his titles because he applied for a medical exemption, was granted it and then got turned back at Customs?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,177 ✭✭✭Fandymo

    And again.

HE. WAS. GRANTED. A. VISA. BY. THE. VICTORIA. GOVERNMENT.

He didn’t just rock up and demand to be let in. He had to go through 2 independent Australian medical boards, who both approved him. The state of Victoria then granted him a visa. He literally did everything by the book. He followed every rule. The absolute ignorance on this thread is astounding. Pity there’s no vaccine for that.

Unfortunately it’s virtually impossible for any athlete to go pro without “juicing up,” never mind the best tennis player of all time. He’s loaded to the gills while polishing a dream catcher and sleeping through his cognitive dissonance.

That’s the level of ignorance you’re dealing with.

Dunno, he's an anti-vaxxer so not the most popular at the best of times, less-so during a pandemic

As for this furore over this, he could indeed be the victim of a bad exemption process (or not), either way, people are mega-pissed at elite people getting exemptions while their relatives, etc have been stuck for years, so that ire is going his way now.

He was granted an Australia Visa also, don't forget that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,177 ✭✭✭Fandymo

And again. He didn’t give himself an exemption. 2 INDEPENDENT, AUSTRALIAN medical boards gave it to him. So I’ll ask again, why is he the villain of the piece.

Also, he is not anti-vax, he’s made no statements regarding the vaccination bar the one quoted earlier in the thread where he said he wouldn’t make a statement as both sides were too politicised and he didn’t want to be seen as taking either side.

The frozen-eyed Dan Andrews [Governor of Victoria] is the one holding their relatives hostage. There should be pressure on Australia, particularly Victoria and the Northern Territory, to moderate their stance which is an outrage against basic human rights.

Displaced anger against a celebrity tennis player isn't going to get people their freedom back.

Calm down and reread my post. And yes, he has said he is opposed to vaccination and he isn't vaccinated (and his wife has been warned for repeating 5G Covid conspiracies on social media) - so it's unsurprising people perceive him as an anti-vaxxer.

Its not just vaccines. Have a look at my post above I mean he thinks bread works like cryptonite for gluten intolerant people

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,098 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

Most Aussies support the measures in any polls I've seen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,177 ✭✭✭Fandymo

What has his wife’s comments got to do with him? Is she not an individual Should he go all 50s on here and beat her into submission? Could you quote some of Djoks anti-vax statements??

So you perceive him as an anti-vaxxer and that makes him one. I can’t believe how anti-Serb you are.

In fairness one silly tweet about 5G back at the start of the pandemic is not something to go on and on about

She said something as a follow up that she didn't believe in it

Never typed one stupid post in your life on boards or anywhere else have you?

Djokovic has some weird beliefs about fitness/health stuff for sure but even if it's all in his head, it works for him and he's the most successful male tennis player of all time.

He has, even though he's got to do press conferences every day at tournaments where was asked about it every time, deliberately avoided speaking about vaccines or his own intentions ever since the vaccines became available as a real-world choice.

    that's a fact

What people are forgetting is that this man is an athlete, he's literally a grade A peak performance human being. And he's being told by unfit, fat, lazy people who sit at a desk all day what to put into his body.

Doesn’t seem very anti-vax to me. Just someone taking a more holistic approach.

The Serbian star, 34, has not officially disclosed his Covid-19 vaccination status, but he's made his resistance to jabs clear in the past.

In April 2020, well before Covid vaccines were available, Djokovic said he was "opposed to vaccination".

He later clarified his position by adding that he was "no expert" and would keep an "open mind" but wanted to have "an option to choose what's best for my body."

During a Facebook live, he explained that he "wouldn't want to be forced by someone to take a vaccine" to travel or compete in tournaments.

He added that he was "curious about wellbeing and how we can empower our metabolism to be in the best shape to defend against imposters like Covid-19."

They should change their minds then, since its obviously not satisfactory to be separated from your relatives or else why the outpouring of bitterness?

In the Northern Territory people are put into quarantine camps. Who wants to be forcibly put into a camp? A minor flu-like illness can't justify it, even if polls say that people ratify it.

OTOH if they're going to hold a tennis tournament they should make it easy for people to play. Its seems to me they're having it both ways - holding a tennis tournament in the middle of an 'emergency' but making up for it by tying the players (not just Djockovic) up in red tape, with multiple competing bureaucracies on a different page from one another.

    °°°°°

It's a golden opportunity for some of those people to take to moral high ground and use punitive measures against people they despise for not sharing their lazy outlook on life.

    Glazers Out!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,177 ✭✭✭Fandymo

That’s his personal opinion. He’s not arguing against vaccination for the masses. He just believes in my body, my choice. Remember we celebrated this a few years back.

So his personal opinion is that he is anti-vaccination? Just to clarify?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,001 ✭✭✭irelandrover

“Personally, I am opposed to vaccination, and I wouldn’t want to be forced by someone to take a vaccine in order to be able to travel,” he said. “But if it becomes compulsory, what will happen? I will have to make a decision. I have my own thoughts about the matter, and whether those thoughts will change at some point, I don’t know.”

Thats the full quote so without knowing what the question was then its not that clear cut. In that quote he says he's opposed to vaccines but would possibly be open to getting one if it was necessary.

He will be pretty pissed off if he is forced to miss this tournament. Its his chance to get ahead of Federer and Nadal.

If he wasn't granted the exemption he would probably have traveled a few weeks ago and done the quarantine (and i say that as he travelled and did the quarantine last year). Now due to this mess caused entirely outside his control he could miss the tournament.

He's not being "held hostage". The Austrailan Prime Minister said today that he is free to leave Australia any time he likes. Now to understand what kind of person they are dealing with he has said that he believes that certain pars of the body "heal" at different times during sleep, so its lungs from midnight to 2.00am.....intestines from 2.00am to 4.00am and so on. He also believes that if you fill two glasses with water and you talk nicely to one and give dogs abuse to the other the one you abuse will turn a manky green colour and smell badly. Shades of Trump "The Chump" and injecting bleach here.

No one is holding a gun to any players head saying they have to go through all the red tape and go to Australia.

His body his choice. Well guess what it's Australia's border Australia's choice.

Why is it ok for you and Novac to force your beliefs on an independent country

He doesn't seem like the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to other areas as well.

In his book Serve to Win, Djokovic described how in 2010 he met with a nutritionist who asked him to hold a piece of bread in his left hand while he pressed down on his right arm. Djokovic claims he was much weaker while holding the bread, and cited this as evidence of gluten intolerance.

And during an Instagram live, he claimed that positive thought could "cleanse" polluted water, adding that "scientists have proven that molecules in water react to our emotions."

His wife also posted some 5g covid nonsense as well.

It's his decision not to take the vaccine, but he has a platform and a track record of talking nonsense. The fact Serbia is less that half fully vaccinated he should use that platform more wisely imo

    I preferred Nadals comments

"The only thing that I can say is I believe in what the people who know about medicine say, and if the people say that we need to get vaccinated, we need to get the vaccine. That’s my point of view,”

He also pointed out that Djokovic and his team likely knew the conditions of entry months ago.
