2019 Skoda Superb - Owners opinions please!

Hi folks, and happy new year to all that are still here!

I’ve commented and given my thoughts on other peeps queries here over the last while, and I’ve been on the lookout for a car for the last while myself. Ive driven a few cars lately, and now have found what I am happy with for my circumstances in the near/ medium term.

Ive found a 2019 Superb Estate, SE Business trim. I’ve driven it and liked it. The price is same as similar cars on the main car search pages.

A couple of q’s to owners / car techs on here:

1) Would you consider 80k miles high on a 2019 car? I’ll be doing ~12k miles per year after

2) Is this mileage getting close to TB change time

3) For owners, have you had any major reliability issues with the car? As it’s out of manufacturers warranty, it’ll be my local Indy looking after it for me anyway, and I fully trust him.

I don’t want a BEV yet, this is likely to be my last ICE car, so will probably hold it for 7-8 years I’d say, or close to end of life at the time, so not overly worried about future value, I just want a nice comfortable motor for the next few years.

Is it manual or DSG? If DSG it should be just after it's 2nd DSG service.

Not one of your questions but if it's not a 2.0 I'd not relish spending the next 7 or 8 years in it.

It’s a 2.0l manual, 150 version. The DSG was on my wish list, but I’d sacrifice to be honest, if it wa the only make weight , simply because I’ve never had one in a car I owned. Id like a Sport line, but really, really don’t like the Alcantara seats, and that alone would put me off that spec.

Also, can/ will an Irish Skoda dealer give me its UK service history?

I'd imagine they can... MyAudi app gives past service history from the UK so presumably all VAG stuff is similar.

Yes, Skoda dealer will have access to main dealer ( and independent specialists that can input servicing on Skoda system) uk history as well as Irish.

they’ll only usually give it out if you’re the owner though.

I think you'd be mad to not keep a car like that in the dealer network with the price of servicing being so cheap from Skoda. The car is still fairly new and you never know when you may be looking for a dig out.

As with any new-ish VAG product, all eyes on the coolant. A painfully common and often expensive issue. Easily avoided though with a stitch in time.

Those engines are due a belt at 210k kms/ no age limit. That being said, most dealers still advise a belt at 120k kms/ 5 years to sell belt jobs. That also being said, your water pump will probably fail before either of those, forcing a timing kit anyway.

Other than that, not a bad car really.

Two Superbs in the family, 2015 and 2016. Both petrol, one manual, one DSG. Nothing major with either of them, zero major warranty work required. Main dealer routine servicing very reasonable, disks and pads much cheaper via an Indy though.

Very easy car to recommend highly.

Would any Skoda dealer be willing to pull the servicing record for my Skoda car?

Theyre certainly able. I got mine when they were doing a service.

Any dealer can get it.

Absolutely galls me though when someone rings and asks for one when they dont do business with us but there probably is an obligation to provide.

So I bought this car and I’m happy with the deal. It’s not from a Skoda garage, but as TFB recommended, I’ll prob get it serviced with a Skoda dealer, but now that won’t be for another year.

Dealer is going to do the TB for me prior to collection, so that’s another bill taken care of for a while. Hopefully the car won’t be a lemon, it has a good bill of health from the online car check I did, but hasn’t been due an MOT yet so no history recorded, hence why I wouldn’t mind seeing it’s service history. For its age/mileage I’m guessing it was a motorway mile muncher, so hoping not too much stress or wear and tear on its components.
